Of shovels, pistols and stuff - Random Thoughts

I have had a bunch of thoughts occur me while playing PR. I decided to take the time and expose them and absorb all the hate on my new years eve.
Isn't it strange that many of the INS kits come with pistols? Why the advantage?
(Not considering the advantage of BLUFOR scoped vs INS ironsight distant fire fights)
Can we have molotovs back? That made close quarters truly deadly for BLUFOR.
Why does the spotter kit comes with a shovel? Maybe a pistol or tripflare instead? A bag of ammo?
What about that hook gun we had in BF:2 Special Forces? Nice thing for quick escapes. I know the current hook is good already.
Could the INS Civilians have some sort of melee attack? Civs currently have 2 unarmed slots, the one that raises both hands and one that raises one hand, it's a waste of a slot. Give Civs a shovel perhaps? Why can't civilians dig a trench? One can always drop his kit, go fake-CIV and have melee attacks. Civs aren't meant for that but in desperate times...
In the past I remember Civs had cellphones, it would be nice if they coulde use it to spot things, even not being de facto a squadleader. I quite don't remember if they had that ability in the past. The commander UAV is a huuuuge advantage over INS. Specialy with the lazing feature. That's insane.
A bombman kit wouldn't be fun?
What about a specialized INS truck that could lay a super heavy WWII bomb cluster that had the effects of a bomb truck? The device could either be activated like a mine, or have a kit spawn next to the IED and someone would have control of the detonation like any other sapper or engineer. Being so strong the kit would have the visual model of a civ guy, but the only differente would be a cellphone and perhaps a pistol. Naturaly one kit per team.
Could we have mortars be taken off deployment and have the commander have control of mortar strikes, like a mini area attack that gets available often and takes some 5-10-15 minutes to reload? Mortars break the gameplay sometimes. I've witnessed, for example, in muttrah, the USMC have mortars behind the mountains, only accessible by choppers. Or in some INS maps, the BluFor normaly has a large airstripe in their main bases and they use that for mortar set ups. It's all beyond the range of bombcars and infantry. Someone will say, well fight mortars with mortars. That's silly, specially in the case of INS. BluFor has UAV and choppers that can fly around and easily locate mortars. In the past we had the ability to built nice nested fortifications, in the open, underground.. etc. Now... It's a bit of a different game. You can have a HMG nest or tow inside a bunker, below a 2m concrete roof and have it completely raped by a mortar shell that explodes in the roof top. This is an engine glitch and has broken the former gameplay of static defenses with emplecements. Everything gets raped by, if the mortar squad wants, an infinite rain of hell.
Have it be more deadly, longer, but give it to the commander and force spotter to actually look at the target and ask for mortar support. Currently all one needs to do is to put a mark on the map, let's say, attack marker on a T building occupied by the enemy, set distance to whatever, ask for mortar, and adjust it via the commands. It's realistic to have the mortar team rain hell wherever they want, but it can be way abusive sometimes.
I'll stop here, this is getting out of control. Sorry for my rants, wish everyone a Happy New Year, and may PR2 bless us all ASAP.
