Sound Bug

Since I updated to 1.1 I joined a server and the mumble and ingame squad chat worked fine. The general sound effects, everything else was mute. I don't think they could hear me either. Don't know if it's related to Razer Surround, but I dont think so since it worked fine before this patch.

Also glad to be back playing this, you devs really have pushed this game to the limits of awesomeness since .8

I have a similiar problem, when I join a server sound works ok for maybe 5min, then I lose game sounds completely. Mumble still works. The game actually disappears from Win7 Volume Mixer?? I have tried rebooting PC and both Software and Hardware from the PR Laucher audio options.

Hi Catrik,

That is a strange bug. I've been volunteering on this forum for a few years, , never seen anyone report this bug before.

Can you please post your system specs using DXDiag.

Do you have a discrete soundcard, a USB sound card, or anything else I should know about?

I have had similiar issues before on older versions of PR too, but If I recall correctly it was some weird glitch that muted the game from the volume mixer. Now it seems to disappear completely from there so :confused:
E: and USB sound card/amp as you can see. I had those similiar problems on integrated sound card also (it was completely different PC)

I'd suggest trying to narrow this down by

drop the BF2/PR audio options to Software Renderer, and Low quality. turn off Dolby and EAX. Click APPLY button. test.

then:

disabling the USB, enabling the onboard sound, plugging in speakers/headphones into onboard 3.5mm jacks, and testing.

Then:

second part of narrowing it down, drop the BF2/PR audio options to Software Renderer, and Low quality.

IDK anything about that USB audio card, check the sample rates, EAX compliance, Dolby compliance, you might be dealing with conflicting PR audio settings causing the USB soundcard to have buffer overflows and then crashing.

I completely deplugged the USB sound card, rebooted and played 4 or 5 rounds with the integrated sound card before losing audio. With the USB card it happens in 5-10 minutes.

Looks like I had the sample rate lowest, I set it to highest and will try later if it makes any difference.
