v1.1.1.0 Shuttering, Connection lost and massive FPS drops after update?

Hey,

Just after the update PR runs like **** on my laptop, i get massive FPS drops which never happened before? i could play at a steady 50-60fps now it drops to like 15fps for around 10minutes then sorts it self out but repeats this process 3-4 times per round.

Also i keep getting disconnected from the game every 30-40 minutes. "your connection has been lost"

This never used to happen i got disconnected every now and then but never this frequent and never dropped FPS. For example KOKAN i can play fine for 15mins or so then if i scope in with binos it will shutter and lag?

I ahve similar problem, I have a Sandy Bridge Gen. CPU too (2600) and also the GTX 570 in the PC.
Played game fine, then tried a slight overclock (increasing by 150 MHz, worked fine in PR 1.0 and BF3 ) and SUDDENLY my OC tool tells me GPU now running @ 400 MHz (instead of the usual 800 ! ! WTF??!! ) So PR tells the GPU on what clock to run?? I thought my GTX 570 now is broken cause of slight overclock, but after PC restart, BF3 on 60 fps again, so all fine.. :D

Robbo, I would suggest defragmenting your hard drive where PR is installed.

You're running a 1TB 2.5" laptop hard drive, and the very large .zip files that were updated in 1.1 are probably incredibly fragmented.

Then, just general suggestions for good computing:
download Gamebooster,
update your graphics drivers,
turn off Aero,
defragment with a 3rd party defragmenter that can move your game files to the front of the drive.
Delete and rebuild your pagefile,
Make sure your notebook is set to Gaming or High Performance profile in Power Profiles.

Daniel, not sure what to say to your situation,
you can manually overclock the GTX 570 and GTX 570M with MSI Afterburner and override the power profile to lock the overclock rate, there is no reason I am aware that PR itself would affect an overclock , unless your GPU is hitting the thermal limit and the automatic downclock for safety is kicking in.

Thx for reminding me on the temp-issue, I will check my temperatures. ;) 8)

Ok ive done all of the above bar : defragment with a 3rd party defragmenter that can move your game files to the front of the drive.

Can anyone recommend a 3rd party derangement that can complete the task that you have suggested tried a quick google but theirs so many to choose from?

Thanks

As usual, you can go the freeware route, or the paid software route.

If you are at all handy with psuedocode, or want a quick project for yourself, I would suggest the freeware route here: MyDefrag v4.3.1
then download the game optimization script in the forum here:
[Script] Games Optimization Script for Data Disk

you'll need to manually add the directory locations of your game installations, i.e. C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2 to the script code to add it to the zone 1 at the front of the hard drive.

It's pretty simple concept, there are 3 to 6 zones, zone 1 at front of disk, zone 6 at end, and you can edit which types of directories and files go where.
