1324 Error Persisting

Hi All,
This is my first time posting here and I wanted to say that I really enjoy the mod and wish you all the best on both the BF2 development and PR2 development. I mostly play with friends on LAN, but every once and awhile I'll allow myself to be obliterated on the online servers.
I got a new laptop and am getting the 1324 display error seen in:
https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f27-pr-bf2-support/122902-error-1324-selected-display-mode-not-supported-2.html#post1960692
https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f27-pr-bf2-support/126024-error-1324-a.html
https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f27-pr-bf2-support/125792-launch-error-1324-a.html
and
https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f27-pr-bf2-support/125363-error-1324-a.html
After trying all of those fixes, it still isn't working. I do have the NVIDIA control panel but I don't have the option to choose between a discrete or integrated graphics, because I don't have an integrated card. I've tweaked with the PR documents folder (deleted whole thing, retrieved account [not from BF2 but from gamespy], changed settings in video.con, etc.) as well to no avail. I'm having a hard time getting the system information thing to copy to the clipboard (probably because I'm remoting into the problem computer from work with teamviewer) but I'm attaching pictures of the relevant information.
Code: Select all

Are there any other possible solutions here? The native resolution of the screen is 1920x1080. I know the profile doesn't currently show that but that's because I have recently reset it trying to get it to launch.
Thanks in advance for the help.

Hi,
Is it a Lenovo IdeaPad Y510p ?
Does vanilla BF2 online multiplayer work?
Does local PR LAN server work?
Are you starting PRLauncher.exe as a Admin?
You have this CPU:
ARK | Intel? Core? i7-4700MQ Processor (6M Cache, up to 3.40 GHz)
It's pretty good for PR:
Graphics Specifications
Processor Graphics ‡ Intel? HD Graphics 4600
Graphics Base Frequency 400 MHz
Graphics Max Dynamic Frequency 1.15 GHz
Graphics Output eDP/DP/HDMI/VGA
I suggest dropping to 1600x900 resolution to test.
We need to edit your Video.con files in Notepad:
Documents\ProjectReality\Profiles\Default\Video.co n
and in
Documents\ProjectReality\Profiles\0001\Video.con
open BOTH OF THE the Video.con files, edit it in notepad to show the correct resolution.
Code: Select all
VideoSettings.setTerrainQuality 3
VideoSettings.setGeometryQuality 3
VideoSettings.setLightingQuality 3
VideoSettings.setDynamicLightingQuality 3
VideoSettings.setDynamicShadowsQuality 3
VideoSettings.setEffectsQuality 3
VideoSettings.setTextureQuality 3
VideoSettings.setTextureFilteringQuality 3
VideoSettings.setResolution 1600x900@60Hz
VideoSettings.setAntialiasing 4Samples
VideoSettings.setViewDistanceScale 1
VideoSettings.setVideoOptionScheme 2
then save it.
This should get you running once.
YOu will need to lower settings to medium in the PRLauncher OPtions submenu.

Yes, that is the laptop that I have.
Vanilla BF2 runs fine.
Can't launch the game so I don't know how to try and launch a LAN server.
Changing the video.con settings of both default and 0001 in the Project Reality folder in my documents to what you suggested didn't get it to launch (am running as administrator).
Thanks for trying, do you have any other ideas?

Try this:
Devastation2.0 wrote:Found a fix:
Open C:\Users\NAME\Documents\ProjectReality - Now right click on "Profiles" - Go to properties and un-tick read-only.
Now open up your 1.0 Launcher and go to your options, and select "reset profiles to default" or whatever it says.
Worked for me

Jacob, give me a few hours, I'm not sure what's going on.
Are you on win8 or win8.1?
It's some really simple problem, just not sure what's causing it.
Do NOT do anything drastic like uninstall BF2 or PR.
It's a simple UAC or admin privileges error ...

Ok. Win8.0. I was actually going to go ahead and update to 8.1 within the next day or so, just haven't gotten around to it. That's kinda what I figured. I could never get BF1942 to launch (via Origin or cd-- no black screen, no splash, would just run for a second then close) on this computer either, I figured it had something to do with a privilege thing. The UAC slider is all the way to the bottom on this PC (never notify).

try running in windowed mode, at 1600x900 resolution:
In PR, If you crash at the splash screen, or the screen goes black and then crashes to desktop, try to start PR in windowed mode by following the directions below:
Start PRLauncher->
Options->
Video Tab->
UNTICK the Fullscreen tickbox->
Chose a display resolution and refresh rate that is smaller than your desktop resolution from the drop down menu, or create a custom resolution->
Click Apply
If you start in windowed mode and it CTDs, a Message will pop up telling you the problem. Take a screenshot or write this down and post it to this thread.

Windowed didn't work, I unchecked the box, closed the launcher, verified the resolution in the 0001 profile video.con (my documents) as the display mode box is red and doens't show any results, went back in as admin and still gives 1324 error.

Rename Documents\ProjectReality to Documents\ProjectRealityBackup.
Create a new Documents\ProjectReality
Make sure it's not write protected.
Recover profile from Gamespy.
See if that fixes the issue.

Update your graphics drivers. They are from last May or older.

No, unfortunately that yielded the same result.

Doing this now, however Nvidia's experience program tells me that they're the latest, in fact it just updated last month.

Uninstalling then reinstalling the graphics drivers didn't help. Still getting same error, and no display mode shown in options menu. Copying in system specs here.

Still wating for help,
one other thing,
make sure you plug in the power cord to notebook,
then check the Power Profile settings,
make sure the profile is set to "High Performance" or "Gaming".
Why? IN Balanced and Power Saving profiles, the discrete GPU is shutdown to save battery life.

Yeah its on high performance. As far as I know, there is no integrated graphics, just the discrete card. This is why Nvidia's control panel doesn't give me the option to pick discrete or integrated. The gfx configuration is two 750m's SLIed. I tried disabling SLI temporarily, it had no effect.

Afaik, the Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4700MQ CPU @ 2.40GHz DOES have integrated GPU as well.
EDIT: Try set your windows DPI to normal, 100% instead of your current "120", 125%...
Are you running BF2 via steam?

Not to my knowledge. If it does, it doesn't have anywhere to control it within windows.
Newegg.com - Lenovo IdeaPad Y510p (59388313) Intel Core i7 4700MQ(2.40GHz) 8GB Memory 1TB + 8GB SSHD Hybrid Drive 15.6" Notebook Windows 8
Either way, it doesn't show up on the NVIDIA control panel so its not like I can pick the discrete gfx card option shown by some of the solutions (that didn't work) that I put in my first post.

DPI adjustment made, no change. I do run BF2 via Steam, PR is run via launcher of course

I'm under5 the weather,
your CPU does have an iGPU:
ARK | Intel? Core? i7-4700MQ Processor (6M Cache, up to 3.40 GHz)
We had this problem with the y500 SLI GTX 650m . I can't find the thread at the moment.
AFAIK, You need to use Nvidia Inspector or maybe Nvidia Control Panel to turn OFF SLI for prbf2.exe bf2.exe prlauncher.exe and prmumble .exe
prlauncher.exe and prmumble.exe are located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\bin
and C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\bin\prmumble
It's an SLI problem if it's same problem as the Lenovo y500 SLI problem we had when the Y500 went on sale early 2013.
