hi just re-download pr to get back in and have some fun but i've hit a snag,

what i did:
downloaded, unzipped iso file to folder, tried to run setup.exe but i get this error message
unable to execute file in the temporary directory. setup up is aborted
error 5: access is denied.

tried to run autorun.exe, loaded the menu with the install, visit site and quit buttons, clicked install, menu closes nothing happens.

run both setup.exe and autorun.exe in administrator as well to no avail

have no idea whats causing it. pls help

literally move the entire unzipped folder to another directory like c:\prtemp or something, and run it again,

didn't work

windows 8 comes with built in utility to mount .iso files.

you can mount the downloaded .iso file then run it as a virtual DVD.

problem, when i right click on the .iso file, i do not get the mount option anywhere in the list.
however i do have poweriso installed and mounted the image with that and tried the autorun.
again nothing, goes to the menu, i click install, it pauses a moment and the menu dissapers and nothing happens
i also get the same error 5 when i try and runt he setup.exe from the mounted iso

Did you download as a torrent?
Check the hashes to make sure your download isn't corrupt.

downloaded the iso directly from gamershell.com

Did you download the 1.1 .iso?

Can someone who has the MD5 Hashes for the prbf2_1.1.0.0_full.iso file please post the hashes in thread so Mcpeanut can check his file integrity.

Which archive software are you using?
You need to fully extract all of it, not just run it through a temp folder.

IF you already know that, my guess is your download might be corrupt.

winrar, yes i did fully extract it and i think you might be right, give me a bit to download again

it's the steam version and i've set everything to auto update so it's the right version, i double checked when i loaded just bf2 up. but a strange thing with my steam version, each time i start bf2 up it does a cd key check, similar to when you first initialize a game on steam, though the first time i initialized bf2 on steam it took a little longer and went through more steps. doing a verify integrity of game cache now

8 files failed to validate, this is why it didn't work. once i completed the download for the broken files the install started and looks like it's working.

yep installed and starting, looks like it was just up to bf2 having some broken files.

Having the exact same problem, I re-downloaded the iso in case the files were corrupted. Please help.

Which version of BF2 do you have? Steam, Origin, Retail DVD, Amazon, etc?
You have updated BF2 using the install guide to 1.5?

Origin version, I've done it before, but after a system refresh, it just doesn't seem to work.

Does vanilla BF2 online multplayer work?
Is BF2 updated to 1.5? (It should be since it's an Origin installation).
Can you give us a bit of info regarding system specs?

What is a "system refresh" in this context?
