Maybe after 6 years, it's finally become stale (5 years too late, in my opinion)? :) PR has over 40 maps, I cringe every time I see kashan on

Probably Khami or Burning Sands finally won over, they are superior in the eyes of many.. Anyways, it will be gone soon (AFSoccer plans to remove it, see Khami the New Kashan thread)

We had a round of Kashan last night on HOG (might have been CIA tbh). The map plays out the same way it has for freaking 6 years, it's boring, it's got no surprises left, and the only options left for players have mostly been done in the exact same manner for years.

The real surprise is that it's not taken out of the game yet. A few hills and a few bunkers is really not on par with any other map in the game. It's a relic that has had more then its fair share in the spot light, time to lay her to rest and allow more interesting maps a chance to be voted into rotation.

after even 5 years, kashan is still the 6th most played AAS map in PR 1.0-1.1.

why would we remove one ouf the top 10 played maps?

How the hell do you know its the 6th most played map? You got like some secret global dev server tracker or what? :D

Its official guys, hire Snowden! Make sure he leaks the scrapped Fastrope plan and spreads the news of Sangin being deleted  Kashan is an okay map, but it gets so damn boring on some servers, I prefered Qinling and even Muttrah because they had so much more opportunities to do something except throw grenades and run bunker2bunker or Jack off in a T-72...

Have to agree, Quinling was alot more varied than Kashan, gameplay-wise....even if there were only hills and some trees. I don't like Kashan either, its just everytime the same. Like exactly the same. Either you go INF and party in the bunker or you are asseting around the bunkers. Did not see it being played that often in the past so I am okay with it staying in the maplist. Kind of a piece of PRs history that should stick with it forever :)

Kashan doesn't try to be what it isn't, its a podium for 2 teams to beat the shit out of each other, minus all the sneaky tiresome flanking tactics etc etc oh yer, and trees. Basically, timer reaches 0, all rush bunkers and have it out...great ;)

Plus, a good map to actually see a JDAM wipe out half the team....classic.

Once a day though, is enough.

K4on, overplayed doesn't mean good. 6 Bunkers, 2 Ridges, 1 boring experience save for the CAS pilots that basically shit on everything on the ground. Maybe it's fun if you're loving the ultimate vehicle shooting gallery experience, complete with less than stellar HAT kits(and only one of it), nerfed TOWs and a CO playing god to keep your *** safe.

Kashan was the most balanced map in PR with the US vs MEC and I'm sure it still is. Please don't take it out, modify it if you have to but keep it. Decrease CAS ability and focus more on armor I'd love to see that.

Everyone has an opinion on Kashan.

Personally, I really like it because it's uncluttered. It was actually the most striking impression I had coming from VBF, that PR mappers didn't feel the need to fill every inch of the map and funnel players into set pieces. In the old days, PR's maps allowed a far more freeform player experience, even maps that a lot of people didn't like, like Road to Kyongni~ (I can't remember how to spell it) were pretty much blank canvasses for players. Even smaller maps like Ejod were remarkably freeform to play.

Kashan is the ultimate in that type of map. Instead of gimicky fob hiding and gamey map knowledge trumping tactics, it's a map that rewards playing with thought to general tactical principles. There's so much manoeuvre space that it has to be played that way.

Why are you all so eager to murder in cold blood the maps that made PR big? Don't get me wrong, I really like the newer maps, mainly because of their amount of detail put in but Kashan, Qinling and others offered cold and brutal combined arms gameplay that punished those that failed to work together.

Much sadfes.

I agree, that it can get boring sometimes, with people playing only around the bunkers and on the hill, but don't remove it.

Change the layout of flags ( location, or put some new ones in ), put some more stuff in it ( buildings and statics )

As much as I hate Kashan, I love it.

It's so simple which makes it elegant in a way.
