[Map] Weapon Bunkers Audit (1km) [WIP/FINAL]

Hey guys,

Got bored and ported/audited the Weapon Bunkers map from Desert Conflict mod over to PR and redid most of the statics on the map. Map has been relightmapped and has been navmeshed so has full SP/COOP support. Now I just need permission for public release from anyone still alive in the Desert Conflict dev team.

Factions : USMC vs MEC
Game Play Type : infantry, light vehicles
Credits: Desert Conflict Development team and =tGA=Harry - Maker of the original map for DCon.

o..my..gosh. I think u mean Desert Combat, award winner mod of BF1942. The dev team of that mod helped making BF2 btw lol.

This is very nostalgic, nice nice work!

Aww no way, this has got to be Desert combat as the overall source, I remember having to use C4 to destroy all three bunkers on 1942. Outstanding!

Hello!

I made the original DCon map (image at the top of first post), but i am not sure if I can decide if you can use it myself. I have to check if I still can reach some of the other leading members from DCon.

I can also check if you can use the bunker statics, if you want?
Or are you using them already? Maybe you have created som similar ones?

Hi Harry,

Thanks for posting, I sent you a permission request in a PM on BFSP this morning :)

No bunker statics used as I dont have lightmap samples for dcon statics and the pr bunkers took up pretty much the entire width of the wire fence area. I struggled to find contact details for any dcon devs other than yourself. I found an email address for MasterX who was a mapper on the team but that was from the 07 trailer so I am not sure if he even looks at that anymore.

One thing I noticed here, and something in general, is that the minimap has the damned compass at the bottom. Its been bugging me as the thing appears on all editor generated minimaps post 1.0

You can solve that by entering this in the three textboxes in your editor:

renderer drawhud 0

Then press enter or click the icon next to the third textbox.

Hi guys.. Harry long time no see. I don't have a problem with you guys using it at all. Harry spoke with Kiff as well and he was in agreement. I will see if I can find anything in regards to it. If not then it is as it is. Good luck with it. If its used then I hope its enjoyed as we had tons of fun playing it. It was a blast in Desert Combat and I'm glad that Desert Conflict was able to re-envision it and bring it into BF2 in our mod. Countless hours of fun were had by all of us and our players on that map. All the best to you guys.

DCon Weapons Bunkers was reallly fun top play. Since I am mostly an infantry player, this map , Lost Village and Outskirts of Mosul was my favourite DCon maps. Too bad DCon never made another release, we had a few more great maps under development. For example, I was nearly finished with a revisioned Bocage set in northen Iraq/ Kurdistan.

A Little sidenote. I always think of our "DCon Weapons bunkers" whenever I play the Zavod 311 map on Battlefield 4. The feeling, light-setting, vegitation are very similiar. :-)

THE 'DESERT COMBAT' MOD, AND IT'S SUCCESSOR , 'DC FINAL' WERE AWESOME ! I LOVED PLAYING THAT MOD AND ESPECIALLY 'DC WEAPONS BUNKER' - LOVED THAT MAP ! OH, AND HOW I WAS SO PISSED WHEN EA TOOK THE SERVERS DOWN. WHAT WAS GREAT, WAS THE ABILITY TO BE A 'LONE WOLF' OUT THERE. YOU COULD JOIN A SQUAD OR GO IT ALONE. I WISH PR REALITY WOULD LOOSEN UP AND ALLOW THAT, IF POSSIBLE...OR AT LEAST LET 'SNIPERS' AND 'MARKSMAN' OPERATE ALONE, LIKE THEY USUALLY DO IN REAL LIFE.
