gone too far from the origional intent

this game is no more the MOD it claims to be

i played modded gulf of oman (anyone recall that name) on Eu infantry server of the demo for 6 months.

the new era 1.0 of pr requires a dedicated games PC or a ?700 laptop. Does anyone else think that their is still scope for a PR:lite

some sort of infantry based combat server on the existing BF2 servers

any interest from anyone who longs for a more simple age of low cpu mods?

I personally would love to see either a 100 player inf server on BF2 or a pR bf2 server to garner interest possibly with mumble support, PR LITE PICK UP AND PLAY

Are you saying that PR's barrier for entry is to steep or is to overwhelming to someone not adept to a tactical play style? If so, then I don't think the problem lies with PR as a mod, but the servers that run different modes/types. I'll agree that PR is not the simplest or easiest mod to get into, ( at least it wasn't for me) but if you start on the right servers with experienced players that help "noobs" then it is a great experience and a fun time. And also now with PR2 underway, the series won't be wholly tied to mods anymore.

I'm still trying to translate your text to English but its proving a hard task.

Are you saying the game is to heavy for simple laptops or you're saying the game is not the same mod from a few versions ago?

You're mainly complaining about the hardware demands I take it?

That's a decision that was made and isn't going to be reversed. The mod continues to be optimized, and of course we're doing our best to reduce crashes and such issues, but the general level of hardware has increased significantly since the release of BF2. I only upgraded a year ago, having had a PC that could barely run PR for years. So I know your pain - but I woudn't want to hold back the mod for the sake of the small minority who can't upgrade their Computers.

I am sorry, but comparing vBF2 and PR graphic and map sizes vise... vBF2 is a meh compared to PR. Not that I am disrespectful against BF2, just PR is much higher quality and standard.

3D scopes, 4km maps (vBF2 mostly had 1km maps), model quality etc.

You just cant expect this all come together with no sacrifice. The game engine is pushed to its limits. And seriously, if you running your PC since 2005, then please consider at least low or mid end upgrade because performance of your computer even in every day tasks are low compared even to low end these day computer performance.

Oh come on, my PC can run games like War Thunder and Insurgency on High with no problem at all, but I can't play half the maps in PR  Don't blame it on the PC.

I can't seem to find the part where it say that PR is optimized for low-end CPU's?

I think that's because War Thunder and Insurgency run a lot more efficiently than PR does. Refractor ran the old textures and models just fine because the engine was designed with the models and textures in mind. Now, they're packing all these models and textures with a much higher quality and it's making Refractor chug along instead of sailing smoothly.

I think.

You have to understand that PR/BF2 are based on a really old engine, 2005 IIRC which is only capable of using a single core of your CPU and is not optimized for the quality PR brings, so it demands a bit more power than the newer, more cosmetic games.
The only way that can be fixed is if the DEVs make changes to the engine, which they are not allowed to.

It's not that we are not allowed to it's that we simply can't since the source code of the engine is not publicly available.

Wouldn't it be better to have a higher power CPU like a 4GHz. Since each processor is kinda powerful?

I was unaware that the original intent of the mod was to run a low-end PC/laptop friendly game.

Confusing thread.
