Here are my Specs. I installed Project reality 1.10 for steam. And when running it with "autorun.exe, I got an error message 1301 after "Verifying client files". File Verification Error: Unable to contact verification server. Please check your internet connection and try again. I've herd rumors about net framework or something, or opening up more ports. I don't think that is the problem, but if it is, Please by all means guide me through it. I want to play this game so badly.

This is probably your firewall or antivirus or router blocking the programs:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\bin\PRLauncher.exe
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\bin\PRUpdater.exe
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Battlefield 2\PRBF2.exe
So,
tell us which firewall , which antivirus and what router you have.
try turning off your firewall then update again.
try disabling your antivirus and updating again.
Tell us your router and we'll tell you likelihood that it might be the problem.

Windows Firewall.
Norton is on here but it expired. So I'm using Avast Free anti virus.
My Router is a Linksys E2500 w/wireless.

Until we can fix the updater being blocked, here's the url for the update:

Click this link, SAVE the file to somewhere convenient.
When the file is fully downloaded, in Windows Explorer right click it, select "Open With..." then Select choose Program, TICK the Always Open with this program" tickbox, then find
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\bin\PRLauncher.exe
I think. I'm so tired I forgot. it's either PRLauncher.exe or PRUpdater.exe
When I get some sleep I'll post back if you can't figure it out.

i have the same problem. i have pr 1.1 installed and it wont let me play due to the a.m. error... i only have avast free so i dont have the firewall installed what should i do

I should have posted what CLOWN posted earlier.
I have Avast Free so my firewall is not even activated.
Windows firewall is active. I have no way of letting things bypass windows firewall.

i have tried to start pr with windows firewall deactivated, but still the same error as before. i even reinstalled pr but it still doesnt work. im kinda out of options now

i did nothing special i just tried it from time to time and it somehow worked.

I was running late when I posted the first patch. IT is the wrong patch FOR your system.
You need to download and run this patch:
