it would be nice to have a large bore semi-automatic sniper rifle for the U.S.
it uses the same caliber as the M24(7.62x51) so same power only seimi and no bolt.

What do you guy think??

I would rather have a Mk11 Mod 0 than a M25( newer version of M21), since DC had the M25 but a .308 semi auto sniper is needed. The Mk11/ SR25 is basically the same as the M21 (.308, 20rnds, 10x scope). They both could be added as pickup kits.

hmmm... i didnt know that there was a new M21 version.. and i also didn't know that the SPR was a 7.62, thx for the info, and I think that the SPR would be a better all around rifle

Everyone likes the SCAR....and its the most butt ugly worst looking thing i have ever seen. How about just a insanely tricked out M4 with rails and everything.

The M25 isn't new, it is simply the M21 with a synthetic stock. It is mis desingated in DC as a M21. The M21 has a wood stock and a different scope

And the SCAR isn't a sniper rifle, so i don't know what its doing in this thread. Neither is the M14 SOPMOD . Both of the rifles have aimpoints on them, and aimpoints are not used on sniper rifles.

the problem with having a semi auto sniper wepon, or any other wepon for that mater, is you sacrifice acuracy for fier rate. in a bolt action rifel the fiering mechinsum and every thing elce that touches the round being fierd is as still as it can be and is the same way every round, with in reasonable standerds. when you start with gas operated fering mechinisums you get a bolt jump just as the round is fierd, alowing the round to move off center ever so slightly in momentum and the like. the only way around this is a rolling block action wich is very coplicated and hared to manufacture, and as far as i know there is none of these actions being used in a sniper role in any army around the world right now.

If you read on my first post, i stated that the Mk11 is .308/7.62mm not 5.56mm which the SPR is. The MK11 and the MK12 are not the same.

Thats why you use both.

Just FYI the Marines have been using a match-grade M14 variant as their Designated Marksman Rifle since late 2001/early2002, first operationally testing it in Afghanistan.



However, because it is difficult to maintain, they're looking at replacing it partially or completely with an SR-25 variant, possibly Mk-11.

ah i thought the m14 variant was the designated rifle i wasnt sure so i waited for someone else to say

I'll be pleased as long as the selection of sniper rifles stays accurate to real life. I would also like to see one-shot kills for center mass hits.

Yea that sounds really good, like if i were to shoot you in the gut you WILL fall. Or if i shot you in the leg with a .50 cal it would be gone and you cant run away...much less if i shot you anywhere with a .50cal

weapon effectiveness of all weapons should be pumped up to realistic levels. right now you get 14 bullets and ur at half health.....

im fairly sure the PR devs will be making it so that a player is able to take far less than 14 shots

id hope so.
