PING

Why do none of the servers I've played on have an autokick for ping? Some servers have two or three people with 280 plus ping!! It lags the game like crazy!! I was just wondering if there is a specific reason as to why there is no autoping kick.

PS I mostly play on the GloryHoundz or one other very populated server forgot the name :(

I have heard different opinions on why high ping does or doesn't lag the game.
The one server that did have an autokick function seemed to only spam the text on the top of the screen but never actually kicked out the player named.
I have seen pings over 450 and it sure seemed like the game stopped lagging when the two players on 56k from Mars left the game.

BF2 is not Quake 1 or 2, nor is it Half life 1 / CS 1.6.

Client ping hardly effects the server or the other clients in BF2. Please can you guys stop worrying about ping so much, BF2s net code is very different and one of the very good things about BF2.

Yeah stop trying to votekick my clan mates just because they got 200+ ping

We are without a brazilian server right now so dont put a high ping kick =P

We can play well even with high ping http://img431.imageshack.us/img431/7044 ... elljj3.jpg

I've played with large groups of BR folks and never noticed a lag problem.
but people w/ 400 + pings don't affect the game ?

AFAIK, ping is between you and the server and does not affect the other players.

I still play alot of FH, and with the bf1942 engine ping makes a big difference, but with the BF2 engine I have never noticed a problem, no matter how high or low my ping is.

.:iGi:. server has a high-ping kick. Stay over the 250 limit for too long & first you get warned, second you get kicked.

Firstly, play on more servers BIGDY (server in Aus) has autokick for any ping over 300.

Secondly having high ping users on a server has never, EVER, lagged any server as far as I have seen, and I have been on servers with people around a ping of 400. Project Reality makes some very strong demands on a PC, demands on hardware but frankly I don’t see ping as an issue in this game.

If you have 2GB of memory and a 256MB vid card and are playing mostly on medium detail on a rez no more than 1280x1024 your game should be lag free (except on that one nasty map I cant remember the name of that brings even my system to its knees) If your specs are less than that, or your rez higher, or the detail cranked up then you WILL get jerky play depending on where you happen to be on a map at the time. This is NOT lag. Don’t blame it on ping dude, update your hardware or make fewer demands on it.

the thing i hate about vanilla (not yet happened on prmm) was when some one in my family accesed the internet on another computer (two are networked) and my ping on the game would suddenly spike to 250 then go back to normal after a few secs. some tinmes though servers will kick for that few second spike which really pisses me off.

ECGN has a ping kicker set to 400. It was 300 but the players swore it was very playable in the 300s. Other's pings do not effect the low pingers.
