Parachutes

Im sure everyone knows that not everyone on the real battlefield uses the rectangle parachutes. The Rectangle parachutes are mostly used by special forces im pretty sure of, and standard troops use (the following pic) like this T10B-D.Image. So is it gonna be changed? So the standard is the round unless the map is based on Green Berets, Delta, SEALs,SAS, Force Recon etc you know what i mean. Maybe Eddie can explain more on the different types of parachutes.

hmmm...

i just read your post. you can´t say that standard troops only use the t10. it is more, that it is used for drops from low altitudes where the other parachutes won´t work. in the german army we were said, that we would jump from around 100 meters or little lower in case of a conflict. it is nearly impossible to jump from that altitude with a manually opened parachute.

but i have heared rumors that not long ago during training, a special recon unit (fernspäher) took an airbase by jumping from 50 meters only with their reserve parachute (t10r), which is manually opened too. but as i said, i guess these are only rumors.

for the sf units you mentioned it is more often interesting to approach their target in a stealthy way. thats the reason why they juse rectangle parachutes. with such systems, you can be dropped from very high altitude kilometers away from your target area and then glide over long distances to it.

if you want that game realistic, only give airborne and special operation units parachutes. you could make the kind of parachute used dependant on the altitude where the air vehicle is left. other possibility is, that you build in a delay until the parachute is opened. you also shouldn´t be able to jump from jets or gunships. only from troop carriers.

MAybe...to use a parachute you need to pick one up in the transport plane (will there be any?) But also, try to eliminate para jumping off buildings.

i cant see why you cant eject out of a plane or heli?? just eject in the seat for the first bit then come down as normal :)

most helis dont have ejection seats, so normally helicopter pilots dont have chutes. i dont think ejection seats are available in the bf2 engine (not totally sure) so we wont be ejecting so much as bailing out. also, regular troops, youre normal air cav or marines or ground pounders wont have parachutes at all, since they normally dont carry them. airborne and pilot classes will have them, and i trust the PR team will give them the correct chutes that they would use in real live

Im pretty sure PR will eliminate the building jumps
