I'm trying to install the new update 1.1.6.0 and the first part of it went at about 1.43Mb/s but the second part is going at about 25kb/s from the AncientDev.com mirror.

When it launches it starts about 600kb/s and drops down very quickly.

I tried running as admin, disabling AV, even trying to find a different mirror or torrent for the update but nothing.

Any advice?

It's probably being treated as a P2P download by your IP thus throttled down?
Try at 0500?

I know in Oz it's a hard life with the net.

This guy also had the same issue... try PMing Ancientman, he should have a better answer since he designed the updater & pays for the server from whence you are receiving the updates.

Yeah, second guy from AU having exact same problem in the last week, most likely to be traffic shaping at the ISP level...

Sadly no advice but yeah i had the same issue last time i updated and am also from Australia. Never wrote anything up about it though because i didn't hear any other complaints so i just let it sit overnight and forgot about it.

I've had this issue since 1.0.36 update. Until then, they've all been fast. And since then, around 20-50 kb/s. I thought it may have just been the amount of people trying to download at once because I updated almost straight away for the earlier slow updates, but now I'm still having the issue after waiting a few days before trying to update .

You have those direct links to the patches, right Lito?

See if they download directly off ancientdev using HTTP (FTP?) if it goes at full speed.

Direct link. Save it to your downloads folder, you can find where that is by starting PRLauncher->Options->Global->'Update download location' location.
Check the Box for 'Keep Update Files'
Click Apply.

Then download this:

I didn't have any way to test until you posted that link, and it seems that, at least for Japan, I'm experiencing the same issue:
