while updating PR to v1.1.4.0 the update window just disappears once it reaches 32% while updating the content\objects_vehicle_client.zip (1624/2033) at progress 1111/3385.

please help! I have tried updating the my antivirus off, closing all other applications, it still does this, and always on that exact spot.

Which antivirus are you using?
WHich firewall software?

This is almostly certainly one of two things:
1. Your download file is corrupted
2. Your antivirus is blocking the PRUpdater from editing a .zip file, due to something called HIPS detection.

If you want to manually download the 1.1.4.0 to 1.1.6.0 update
Direct link. Save it to your downloads folder, you can find where that is by starting PRLauncher->Options->Global->'Update download location' location.
Check the Box for 'Keep Update Files'
Click Apply.

Then download this:
http://files.ancientdev.com/updates/prb ... ch.prpatch

Code: Select all

http://files.ancientdev.com/updates/prbf2_1.1.4.0_to_1.1.6.0_client_patch.prpatch
Then double click that file and the .prpatch file type should already be associated with the PRLauncher and should then update.
2. If you tell me your antivirus and firewall we can see if it has HIPS detection and figure how to disable it fully.

For future reference,
Go to
C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\Project Reality\Project Reality BF2\UpdateLogs

You should see this file:
UpdateLog_1.1.6.0_2.txt

OPen it in notepad or Word, At the bottom it should tell you exactly what is failing to update.

my antivirus is Avast, I don't know anything about firewalls and after checking my firewall I couldn't find any name on it, all It says is Windows Firewall, also I have tried disabling my antivirus and updating but it didn't work and PR has authorization to do what ever it wants on my firewall so that couldn't possibly be it.

I checked the logs you said and here's what it says under the objects_vehicle_client.zip update:
No update necessary, file already matches target file.
If it really is up to date then why would it try to update it then??

And I'm actually trying to update from v1.1(?) to v1.1.4 not from .4 to .6

EDIT: just checked, my version is 1.1.0.0
Another EDIT: I've looked around for the v1.1.0.0 to v1.1.4.0 update patch and I'm downloading it now.

checked the downloads folder and found a v1.1.0.0 to 1.1.1.0 update that my updater apparently seems to skip for no reason...
after using it and updating to v1.1.1.0 the updater no longer crashes at 32, instead it takes an immense amount of time to update the AK75u sound file at 42% (objects_weapons_client.zip\weapons\handheld\rurif_ak74m\sounds\ak74u_fire_1p_outdoor.wav)
any ideas?

Um,....
If you still have the .ISO to install PR 1.0 ,
and you have the downloads in your downloads folder
Cut the downloads to another location,
uninstall PR, and reinstall.
Then Cut the downloads back to the downloads folder.
Start PR Launcher and try to update..

Honestly, I have no idea what's going on as no one has had this particular set of problems before.
