1. Collecting your system and PR version info

Start PRLauncher.
Click Support:
Scroll down until you find
1. PR Version :
2. Update DL Path:
are the most common to find if you need this guide as there are official .ISOs of these available for download.

PR Version can be anywhere from 1.0.29.0 to the current version number, as of this writing it is 1.1.6.0
IF your PR version number is below 1.0.29.0 you are running a pre 1.0 release and need to download and install a new installation of PR 1.X

Default location for Windows Vista/7/8

C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\Project Reality\Project Reality BF2\Downloads

Default location for Windows 2000, XP, and 2003

C:\Documents and Settings\[USERNAME]\Local Settings\Application Data\Project Reality\Project Reality BF2\Downloads

Do you have enough free space?
Example, with only 240MB, the PRLauncher will close because your system failed the 'free space check':
Click Close in the Support Window.


2. Preparing PRLauncher to keep downloaded patch files after installed

PRLauncher main window
Click Options
Click Global Tab
Find the "Keep Update Files' Tickbox
Tick the Box.
Click Apply.
Click Close.


3. Choosing the right download patches for your system

VERY IMPORTANT: IF YOU MANUALLY INSTALL PATCHES OUT OF NUMERICAL ORDER YOU WILL HAVE TO REINSTALL PR. It is always advised to download the patches to your Update DL Path then start PRLauncher and select the "Check for Updates" option in the Play submenu.

Question 1. What version of PR do you have installed?
1.0.29.0
or
1.1.0.0
or
something above 1.1.0.0
or
1.2.0.0


please download the appropriate patches to your Update DL Path directory and run them in order.

IF you have 1.0.29.0

Then download this:

It will update you to 1.1.0.0 and continue with the guide:

4. Installing the patches

The preferred method:
start PRLauncher and select the "Check for Updates" option in the Play submenu.

The manual method:
Use Windows Explorer to open your Update DL Path directory and run the patches in order.
If your system has not yet done so, you must associate the .prpatch file type with the PRLauncher.exe

5. Troubleshooting

1. Not enough free space on my System partition where Update Download Location is pointed, but I have a secondary partition with enough free space.
2. Error 20 message: Reality.BF2.dll error
3. Crashing while updating from 1.0.31.0 to 1.0.32.0.

Not enough free space on my System partition where Update Download Location is pointed, but I have a secondary partition with enough free space.

2. Change location where PRUpdate patches are stored, move to your secondary partition.

For this example we'll use D: drive as secondary partition.

You can manually change the location where the updates are stored:
1. Create 3 new directories on your D: drive:
D:\PR
D:\PR\Downloads
D:\PR\Updates

2. Start PRLauncher
3. click Options
Click Global
under the "Update Download Location" click Browse,
Go to D:\PR\Downloads and select it as the download location.
under the "Update Log Location" click Browse,
Go to D:\PR\Updates and select it as the download location.

Try to run the PRLauncher updater again.

Error 20 message: Reality.BF2.dll error

There has been generally two possible causes of this, and you can experience both at the same time.

A. Your antivirus/firewall/router/router's internal firewall is blocking the PRLauncher.exe and PRUpdater.exe programs from accessing the internet.

B. Your PC is experiencing a bug in the PRUpdater code and you need to roll your PC's Windows clock to a date before March 16 2014.

Try this fix for the Reality.BF2.dll error:

Set your Windows time to a date prior to March 17 2014.

Then try to update.
After it validates, you can then change your Windows system date to today's date and time.

A workaround solution for now.

Crashing while updating from 1.0.31.0 to 1.0.32.0.

You have three options.
1. (Preferred method) Uninstall PR, then reinstall using the 1.0.29.0 ISO you have already.
Then download and install this:

2. Uninstall PR, then download and install using the 1.1.0.0 ISO

3. Manually install the incremental patches from 1.0.29.0 to 1.0.33.0 as follows:

Set your Windows time to a date prior to March 17 2014.

Let's try to manually update your system to a newer version 1.0.33.0 .

EDIT: Once you install the 1.0.32.0_to_1.0.33.0 patch, you should be able to use the PRLauncher's updater to install all newer patches to reach 1.1.1.0 .

!!!! NOTE: installing any patch out of order can cause total failure of the pr mod folder file structure and you'll have to do a clean install !!!!

Right click this link and Save to Computer.

Once saved to your PC, double click the file to start the update.

Again, Right click this link and Save to Computer. We'll do this for each file.

EDIT: Once you install the 1.0.32.0_to_1.0.33.0 patch, you should be able to use the PRLauncher's updater to install all patches to get to the current release version.

Set your Windows time to the current date.
