destroyable statics linked to flag caps?

Bare with me here, this is a bit long


One thing that could add a great dynamic to the game, as well as add a whole ton of usefullness to the SF class (inspired by the post thats pretty active right now) would be if it was possible to make it so there were certain statics linked to control points that needed to be destroyed/rebuilt for the flag to be taken, or maybe even to control spawn abilities.

What im saying is that when a flag is taken, some destroyable static spawns in the base. This could be anything from a radar trailer, to a comm tower, to something that a unit would erect at a friendly base.

Now, say that the opposing team wants to take over this flag, before they can successfully neutralize it, they would have to destroy this static.

Once they destroy the static and cap the base, their own teams static spawns. Preferably, these statics wouldnt be damageable by rockets and whatnot, only SLAMS and c4, maybe enough grenades could blow it, but it would need alot

This would open a huge ammount of possibilities for the SpecOps. Being equipped with SLAMS, they would be ideal for destroying these objects. That way SLAMS would have a use. And specops would be a class that has a well defined task on the field, which right now, they dont. Theyre sort of a uber rifleman for the US, and worthless for most other factions. Adding these statics would give them a purpose, as well as a weakness. Since SLAMS would also now have a defined role (blowing up assets linked to CP's) people would stop trying to use them as antivehicle mines, thus, the SpecOps soldier cant deal well with vehicles.

I dont know if this is possible, but if it is, i think it would be an amazing thing to add.

we're working on some similar concepts for a future release.

we discussed some stuff a while back, got it into the ball park and I've drafted up a design, but am holding off cuz er.. we have a lot on the go atm and I don't want to distract folks :p

what we're planning at this stage is a little different but the basic concepts are similar.

Plus make heavy ordinance, even from vehicles and jets: destroy all that can be destroyed.
:> bridges, shacks, thin walls.

oh and be able to destroy the lag created from all the static destroyable objects :P
