A few questions from a noob.

Greetings, :) . Ive made the decision, after both playing previous BF games, to never ever play vanilla. Though, this is my first time i will ever play PRMM, even BF2. Ive read the wiki, but i still have some (prbably totally noob) questions.

1. Is the health bar still there?
2. With the SA7 Grail, is it a fragmentation case set to explode at a certain level, or do you actually have to make contact with the plane/heli?
3. Do AA and AT infantry have splash damage?
4. Is the SOFLAM night vision, or just really powerful binocs?
5. Are there scope modifications for the sniper rifles in PRMM, such as night vision and infrared?
6. Does the M2 SLAM have anti infantry capabilities?
7. Are there pick-up kits of limited weapons in PRMM, or has this need been eliminated by the introduction of the quartermaster?
8.Do AT weapons have generally flat or high trajectories?
9. Are there tank sights planned for the tanks? (sorry if this was only in WW2, ive played 6 months of FH so far :P )
10. Do tanks have the ability of night vision?
11. Overall in tanks, what are the most vulnerable areas? Top, treads, or back armor?
12. Do squad MGs (like M60 and SAW) have deployable bipods? Do sniper rifles have deployable bipods?
13. In BF2 do you still have to type "ftk" and "ptk" in the console?
14. The guide mentioned car bombing with IEDs, is this a legal tactic accepted on most servers, or still regarded negatively as intentional tking?
15. I have a Radeon X1300 and 1 gig of RAM, is that fine?

1. no
2. don't know
3. I think AT has. Not sure again.
4. no. But I heard that on the next version (0.41) there will be 2 different zoom levels.
5. never tried, but I'm sure that if you walk on it when it goes off you won't be in 1 piece.
6. Just the QM for most maps.
7. flat
8. ?
9. Haven't played any night maps..
10. Back armor and the tracks are quite vulnerable. Don't know about the top, but generally just shoot from behind and you will do a lot of damage.
11. no
12. what?
13. Teamkilling is something no one likes. But how does that relate to car bombing?
14. low/medium settings and you will be fine.

1. no health bar, you dont have one in real life :p
2. direct hit
3. AA dosent, Light AT dose a little, more will come probaly in a later version, Heavy AT dose.
3. if its a night map, you can turn on your night vision then look though it to get night vision.
4. same as above, no IR thou.
5. its timed, so if a player sits ontop of it for 15secs till it blows it will kill them :p
6. yes, but we mainly have a Kit Request system.
7. flat.
8. planned is a maybe, depending on how feasubal it is. The tank sigights are nomraly modelled into the 1p mesh of the tank.
9. yes, same as 3
10. rear and tracks.
11. they have bipods modeled onto them too look "cool", but due to the engine they dont do f/a :p
12. ???
13. as insurgents use it in real life, its a legal tactic for them.
14. yes.

also its PR, the MM (minimod) was dropped with 0.4 ;)

lol, sorry :)

ftk and ptk is in BF1942 (i play FH1 ALOT) means "Forgive Team Kill" (the teamkiller has normal spawn time) and "Punish Team Kill" (teamkiller has long spawn time.)

PS: By tracks do you mean sides, or do I literally have to get in front or back of the tank where skirts dont cover the tracks?

If the server has TK punnished enabled, you just push page up, or page down to forgive / punnish. Thou it cahnges nothing for the spawn time, all it dose is if a player gets to many punnishes he gets kicked from the server.

14. There is one server that states that players must not blow themselves up in any way. The introduction of car bombs, insurgents and other impulses mean that as in the real world, this is valid gameplay. The longer respawn times mean that one person cannot annoy the enemy forces too greatly with these methods

yet LOOK AT MrD - LOL you are a DEV, finaly, pubrelations, not to shabby, good on you and PR for not being predujise to people with certian so called problems above the neck area, jke - video thing on the right, you know MrD aint welcome at that server anymore!

Clear, consise and non biased info from MrD - likes to do his new jb to an impeccable standard!

Thanks for the answers guys :) Im gonna be a real happy kid Christmas morning :P

16. Is bullet drop incorporated?
17. Can you underhand roll the grenade, or only overhand throw?
18. When you right click for the ironsights, does it zoom in still?
19. Is the knife still quite powerful?
20. Is there a stamina bar?

16. BF2 has gravity, therefore bulletdrop.
17. if you right click the mouse it will drop the nade at your feet, the longer you hold the right mouse button in for the further you throw it. or you can just left click to throw normal distance.

18. No, only on Sniper rifles
19. One stab = dead
20. Yes, when sprinting or jumping.

16. Yes
17. No, but you can decide the power of the throw
18. I'm not sure what your asking, but it zooms in by 1.25
19. I'm guessing (since I haven't knifed anyone in PRMM, never thought about doing it) that one hit to a unprotected area (head, knees) will still bring someone down.
20. Yes, because in RL you could tell how long you could keep on running, and sprint time has been lengthened

Your sorta right, it depends were you hit them, if you get them in the back and their not wearing body armor then it takes 2 hits with it (silly). but if they arent then it takes 1 hit (even more silly) - or you could just go for the neck/face area.

21. Just how effective is body armor? Will it stop, say, a burst from an M16?

1. Is the health bar still there?
no, there are obvious audio and visual cues to indicate when you are nearing unconsciousness tho

2. With the SA7 Grail, is it a fragmentation case set to explode at a certain level, or do you actually have to make contact with the plane/heli?
some proximity, but BF2 doesn't seem to do that very well, so a direct hit is pretty much required

3. Do AA and AT infantry have splash damage?
a little bit on AA, some on light AT and some more on heavy AT, will be a little bit boosted for the AT weapon in next release.

4. Is the SOFLAM night vision, or just really powerful binocs?
binocs, for now.

5. Are there scope modifications for the sniper rifles in PRMM, such as night vision and infrared?
there are NVGs on night maps, no IR

6. Does the M2 SLAM have anti infantry capabilities?
yes, but tough to use that way due to the timer.

7. Are there pick-up kits of limited weapons in PRMM, or has this need been eliminated by the introduction of the quartermaster?
pickup kits are more sorta "easter eggs" and also used to represent weapons caches for insurgents. conventional armies generally rely on the quartermaster system.

8.Do AT weapons have generally flat or high trajectories?
generally flat, although we may introduce some top down attack weapons systems

9. Are there tank sights planned for the tanks? (sorry if this was only in WW2, ive played 6 months of FH so far :P )
electro optical HUDs for IFVs and MBTs in the next release, currently use a hacked up optical thingy that could only be described as broken

10. Do tanks have the ability of night vision?
only on night maps an it doesn't work very well

11. Overall in tanks, what are the most vulnerable areas? Top, treads, or back armor?
Currently tanks in PR are fubar. We kinda screwed them up. We modelled the fidelity of realism with the infantry at a very high level. When you stack that up against the unrealistically modelled tanks (and other vehicles from BF2) you get a really bad mismatch... the infantry are way overpowered in comparison to the vehicles.

The tanks and such that we have not yet "PR'ified" to the same extent as the Infantry. Version 0.4 was what I would call the last "infantry focussed" release of Project Reality and the first release where we are into polishing and tweaking mode with the Infantry and shifting focus to the vehicular combat. The next release will see some major improvements to vehicles, particularly tanks, APCs and attack helicopters.

12. Do squad MGs (like M60 and SAW) have deployable bipods? Do sniper rifles have deployable bipods?
No. They are animated, but make no difference on weapon performance. We attempted this a while back but found an issue with it. However I think I may have found a work around for that issue, so we might revisit it this in a future release. Basically to get maximum accuracy you would have to deploy the bipod. I like this idea, we tried it before, but it's not as simple as it sounds ;)

13. In BF2 do you still have to type "ftk" and "ptk" in the console?
i dunno wtf you are talking aboot :p

14. The guide mentioned car bombing with IEDs, is this a legal tactic accepted on most servers, or still regarded negatively as intentional tking?
We basically tweaked things to remove "jihad jeeping" some time back (you can try it but 99% probability you will simply just get killed). But there are suicide bomber vehicles for Insurgents and it's completely acceptable to use these as suicide bombers.

15. I have a Radeon X1300 and 1 gig of RAM, is that fine?
medium. PR is a bit of a RAM pig, we're working on fixing that but even BF2 will run noticeably better with 2gb of ram.

16. Is bullet drop incorporated?
yes, to the extent the BF2 engine will allow, but I recently (by accident) discovered a new way of doing it so I think we might add a more effective method of bullet drop in a future release

17. Can you underhand roll the grenade, or only overhand throw?
only overhand

best way to figure out how the mod works is to download and play it. there's a learning curve, so give it a few sessions before finalising an opinion.

A couple things to note. Someone said that there will be two modes of zoom for the SOFLAM in .41-- there already is two modes of zoom, and AFAIK, there always has been.

Also, I've never had to knife someone more than once, and I've knifed 18 people.

I'm not sure, I know that without body armor, 3 rounds will bring you down, I know that with the snipers, if you have body armor it takes 2 shots with the SVD instead of just one

2 zoom levels already exist: right click when looking through the SOFLAM and hey presto! Double magnification!

Weird...I caught a guy trying to knife me from behind today, turned around to see him make the motion, maybe he missed me...but I put a burst from my M16 in him, so he couldn't try again.

And bulletdrop is in for sure, I've seen people use it to fire at people behind cover on big open maps, I guess they use a spotter or something.
