I finally got into the game last night, had a bad connection in every server I joined. I noticed they were mostly US servers so I was wondering is there any EU servers?

There is 3 running full at European prime time basically everyday (PRTA, Merk and NEW).

Besides, unless you spike well over 200, ping should pose no real issue.

I played on a russian server last night, had 320 ping, and could play ok

As mentioned above there are three EU servers up quite often, all based in Germany I believe. You should have decent ping there(I was getting ~50 from Dublin on UPC). If you're unfortunate enough to be on mobile broadband, you'll be looking at ~120 ping to them, probably.

A problem with EU servers is that during the weekdays they tend to die down at around 10-11 Irish time.

From the Central U.S.A. I've played on Australian, Euro, South American, Russian, and Chinese servers too I think. I've even looked for the highest ping server to try and I never get effects that are as bad as people have made out when they talk about server ping.

+150 Ping is unplayable for me. If you are fine with rubberband and microlags, then you can play up to 250 or something. Anything above that makes you lag extremely hard. Noticable by turning around, and your char will just keep turning back to its prevoius positon a couple times. Switching weapons will make you switch to your previous weapon again sporadically and similar stuff. I cannot play on Chinese, Brasilian or West-Coast USA server for example. I get 300-400 ping there.

I play on FCV with a 200 ping and it works OK when I stick to Infantry and APCs. But I will no longer play tanks or CAS on that server. I mean, I wouldn't fly anyways, but I feel like especially ATGMs and Laser Guided Missiles will not hit where I want them to on a laggy server.

When i play on prta or merk... i get usually 150-220

BTW... How do you have 200 ping when playing on usa server?

How many CQB fights have you lost? I've given up on winning any of them unless I've thrown a grenade first.

Ping does effect gameplay. Even gameplay as slow and tactical as PR's.

Ireland's internet services, particularly outside the cities, are horribly underdeveloped.

In the house I'm in for the summer, we have 3G internet, with about 1Mb/s total bandwidth realistically, and 100ms latency before it even gets to the internet. FCV was high ping already, but it'd be like 300 from where I am now.

Depends on the time of the day man.

MERK and PRTA are 100% full towards the evening. I can play on HOG and Candy Van from my country fine. No problems.

As of now, yes.
As a student this year, I had some nice fibre with ~50 ping to Frankfurt and ~85 to NY.
Now I have those +=100.
