If you switch the view you also switch between nothing selected to Ammo Boxes. And it works the other way around that when you are in zoom and switch between nothing selected and Ammo Boxes you get out of the zoom.

Yes this is known and cant really be anything done about it
The change view has to change the weapon otherwise the the periscope wont work.
