PR crashes to desktop randomly while in game

I made a thread about this around 1.0 and no solution was found. Been playing 1.2 for sometime now and the problem still persists. I also never get an error message, only the PR "Clening resources.. etc." message
The crash occurs after a seemingly random time, like today I've tried to play and only been able for 5-10 mins before CTD. Yesterday I was playing for up to an hour or more without problem, but inevitably always crashing at some point. The situation in game also seems random, I've been lying still as a sniper and crashing while just looking around, I've crashed dicking around while putting up a fob, in a car, in a tank, in a helicopter, running to a target and basically any random situation that has come up. Also while talking/not talking on voip. I very rarely crash during loading, its almost always in game. Also I've been getting a texture error while playing, it just shows black texture when moving into new areas not loaded, but that is also a quite rare problem and is fixed easily with rebooting.
I've defragged my computer 2 times and am in the process of a 3rd one, going to reinstall BF2 and PR after this, but I'm not hopeful. I've reinstalled my drivers god knows how many times, I've reinstally BF2 and PR also countless times, but to no avail. I've monitored my temperatures, but everything remains at acceptable levels. I've done chkdsk 2 times. I play with the lowest settings and have tried many different resolutions, playing in windowed mode(No error message then either),
I'm running out of things to try, other than buying a new gfx card because that is the only thing that has changed since the problems showed up long time ago, but this is only a problem with PR and I'm sure the gfx card is able to run it, even though its pretty shit.
Oh and also I've got BF2 from steam, but I've always tried it with a disc install, but doesn't help.
Any ideas?

post your specs from PRLauncher->Support->"Copy to Clipboard button" , then paste everything in this thread.
This sounds like a networking or ISP issue, rather than your PC hardware.

Okay, will post when I get PR installed here soon.
I really doubt its a network issue, I've played with this network and ISP before the problem just fine.

Hiya Tribaja,
sorry to hear we didn't get you sorted out last summer,
for reference:
https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f27-pr ... eplay.html
Multiple problems:
1. Download and install .NET framework 4.0 32 bit for Windows XP.
Download Microsoft .NET Framework 4 (Web Installer) from Official Microsoft Download Center
2. Follow directions here to allow programs to use more than 2GB of memory:
https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f27-pr ... b-ram.html
3. Download and run Bitsum's ProcessLasso Free 32 bit edition,
https://bitsum.com/processlasso/ do this to try to minimize the number of background processes running.
4. Download and run TweakUI for XP
Windows XP downloads - Microsoft Windows and shutoff as many desktop UI elements as you can, basically make your desktop look like WindowsNT. This will save upwards of 90MB of VideoRAM, which could help you alot.
5. Download and run Razer Gamebooster, to further minimize background processes.
6. Shut down all overlay programs, be it TS3, Skype, RAPTR, OVERWOLF, etc. Again to save video memory.

Thanks alot for the info, I'll be trying all of these later today and will get back on how it worked.
On the background programs/desktop, I already run a pretty tight ship when it comes to those, I don't use my desktop (I have my desktop images hidden and only use the windows startup bar), I also don't use the default XP skin, but the blocky, plain one and only have a few background programs at any time. I don't use any overlays either like skype, ts3 etc.
But I'll give it a try, nonetheless.
Thanks again for the help, hopefully this will solve it because PR has been my all time favorite game for many years now.

Okay, well this was weird as hell, I changed the system info to use 3gb as instructed, but after rebooting now everything started to load really slowly, like when I started firefox it loaded the page from top to bottom slowly every time I scrolled or loaded a new page. Also when I rebooted again the windows screen loaded incrementally from top to bottom.
Haven't tried the game yet, but I had to revert the change and now everything works as normal again.
I'm going to rip out my RAM cards and check that they are indeed 2gb, but I am pretty god damn sure that they are.
EDIT: Yep, 2x 2g DDR2 sticks. Any idea why it slows down when using 3gb?
EDIT2: Also, the game still crashes with the same closing message as always....

I have the same issue as OP.
75% of the time:
PRmod closes to desktop, and I see the "Unloading resources" window from the launcher.
25% of the time:
game locks up, mumble works
sometimes it crashes to "prbf2.exe has stopped working", other times I have to spam ctrl-alt-del(then the above window shows).
I had my setting on high, bf2 installed on a SSD separate from my system SSD.
I uninstalled, reinstalled on system SSD, used default medium settings and am still having issues.
I don't mean to Hiijack, I just though more info on a similar problem would help.
