Hey guys,

I have a noob question, or maybe even questions for you.

Now I've played PR for over 3 years on my desktop pc, but because Im going to study abroad for the next 6 months I decided to buy a laptop that would also play some games.

Now i got some fancy HP Pavillion 15 with enough RAM to run PR, but I have no clue where to start with my install

I know there's a lot of info already on the forums but I cant put the pieces together correctly..

So please, can someone take me through the step by step process of getting PR on this mofo?

First of: is it okay if i download a torrent (my cd broke a LONG time ago) and do i still nead a serial key? (read somewhere you didnt anymore?) Afterwards, is there any special thing i should keep my eyes open for whilst installing pr?

1. You can download a torrent of the CD Image.
some images have cracked CDKeys that autoinstall when installing vanilla BF2. This is a problem
Some images are just the original CD, this is good.
MAKE SURE YOU CHANGE THE CDKEY before installing PR.

2. You need a valid CDKey.
You can google on ways to get your CDKey off your desktop ,

You can not Simultaneously play online from two machines that both have the same CDKey. One of the machines will get kicked at random every few minutes.

Still? Though that might have stopped now.

I wasn't talking about simultaneously. I mean let's say I play a mondaynight of PR on the laptop, then a tuesdaynight on the desktop. I installed both games with the same cd key. Is this possible?

Just a questions aside, using CDKey generators or cracked BF2 copies is not illegal anymore?

It's still illegal.
EA still owns the IP. EA still has a EULA. You still sign that EULA to play.
EA is actively defending it's copyrights for BF2.

At this point, the few BF2 images that have an autoinstalling BF2 CDKey, all those keys have been registerd on the PR master server. I thinkall of them have been banned too.

The PR Master Server in the update to post-GameSpy BF2 R will lock your CDKey to your machine. So if you create a new online account using a banned CDKey from a torrent, you're going to be banned from online play, and in a for a lesson in Windows programming, or you'll have to revert your PC using a Backup program, or reformat your OS. Or buy a legit copy that is a different version (i.e. if your banned CDKey torrent is Origin, you can still buy a Steam version, and vice versa except Origin stopped selling BF2). Or stop playing PR online.
