BF2 Mumble Integration in ArmA?

I was wondering if its at all possible to use a similar system that PRBF2 has with Mumble... in ArmA. As I'm sure many of you know... ArmA VON sucks big time, and I know there was some preliminary work into integrating mumble into the game... but I figured I'd ask you guys if you'd know anything more about the subject, since you (the developers) seem to have more experience with it than anyone else I know.

Have you used ACRE before?

You don't understand. We're actually looking for something that is a self contained VON system that runs automatically and independently in the background of a mod. ACRE and TFR both require relatively tedious and strenuous mounts of clientside work to get to work, and must be started independently through third party software that must be installed separately (which is a serious bar to entry for most lazy potential players.)
Would it be possible to create a packaged VON system like PRBF2 mumble that is bundled with a mod launcher specifically for ArmA 3. For instance... when you download PRBF2... you don't download Mumble separately, or patch Mumble, or even have to move yourself from channel to channel (as you used to have to.) Would it be possible to build a similarly autonomous system for an ArmA 3 mod?

there is a mumble .dll library for arma2.
idk if it's been updated for arma3.
it was somewhat flaky in regards to proximity accuracy.

It was Dwarden's baby for ARMA2, idk what he's been doing as he became Rocket's right hand for DayZ standalone.
edit: Dwarden resurrected it last year for arma 3, but I've never seen an update:

Mumble would still require manual steps to load the LINK and alter the .cfg files, it's front end client agnostic, and TS3 is the de facto standard for arma players.
and out of the thousands of arma devs and contributors, no one has released an open source mumble LINK function that works yet.
closest is this:

code never released.

so, the answer is no, until you can find a server side solution.

It is possible, but you would have to find someone to develop it. You could get in touch with the ACRE guys and see if they're willing, or find someone brainy and ask them to do it.
Seems what you'd need is:
- A customized version of ACRE and/or a launcher that reads which server the player connects to
- A serverside ACRE listener for your mod
- A LUA script (
apparently they can interact with teamspeak) that would handle the client channel moving, muting and whatnot
It's possible, but not with what's currently out there. Hope that answers your question.

Is there anyone within the PR community who you think would have the ability to help?

If you're making it for ARMA, I'd approach the arma community to be honest, some guys in the TacBF are old PR devs.
Tactical Battlefield - A PvP Modification by TacBF Team - Mods and Addons - Armaholic
It's basically PR on Arma (but better/different).
Their forums are here:
Tactical Battlefield ? Index page
They're basically half way there with their Task Force Radio, but they'd have to do a bit of work to make it fully automated
Tactical Battlefield ? View topic - Task Force Radio
That's your best bet IMO
