Why does the editor crash when it opens certain maps, but not others?

Did you try to open maps that are already ready ingame? You need to unpack those. Compare the files in your map folder compared to say, Muttrah City. Youll see a difference

Yeah, sorry, I didn't wrote the OP very well.

I have several in-game maps in my .../pr_edit/levels/ folder. I have already unzipped the clients/servers/etc. zips into their appropriate folders. I can open some levels (eg. Iron Ridge) without any problems. But if I open, say, Kokan, upon finishing the loading process a dialogue will appear saying "BF2 editor has stopped working and the application will now close. Would you like to view the dump file? (Y/N)". It's always the same levels that crash in the editor and always the same ones that don't.

Is this a problem other users have seen before?

I think there was a customized BF2 editor.exe that allows for more RAM usage... that might help if you haven't already got it?

Oh, you mean the Large Address Aware version? Yeah that's the one that I use. The LAA doesn't seem to help the crashing.

Today I tried to open Shijia Valley to find out the name of the apartment static used in Zhouying City.

The map didn't immediately crash upon loading, but if I navigate the camera too far, then I start to get endless chains of missing shader errors.

This makes me think I might not have set up by BF2editor properly.

Can someone let me know if their version of the BF2editor can open these maps without crashing?:

+ Lashkar Valley
+ Hill 488
+ Kokan
