how big is the screen? What kind of screen? Are you connecting via hdmi or dvi? Explain exactly what you are doing from the point of starting the game and what are your current game settings set to? What O.S. you using and what kind of gfx card do you have? etc....

There really isn't any much information to work with to give you a direct answer. Is the screen big physically (60") or is it very high resolution (4k, 8k). Most physically big HDTV screens are still just 1080p, so to the computer, it is just like any other 1080p screen. Some more information about your setup (namely the monitor) would be greatly helpful.
It does sound like the monitor isn't recognizing the resolution/refresh rate you are trying to feed it. This is more likely to happen if it is a TV screen rather than a computer monitor. Check what resolution/refresh rate you are able to see while on your Windows desktop, and try that in your PR settings. Also, some older TV screens only do 1080i instead of 1080p, so there may be some issues if you try to play at 1920x1080, so you may have more success at with 1280x720, since the TV should be able to handle 720p.
If it is just a monitor issue, you should still hear some sound after launching the game, like the intro videos or the menu music.
Try disabling the intro video from the PRLauncher menu. It is possible that the videos will play at 640x480, which your display may not recognize, and will black out while the intro videos are playing. After which, you should be able to see the game menu at the proper resolution.

Problem apparently no longer exists. OP, feel free to PM me if you want to tell everyone whether you could solve it or not, and how, for future reference.
