First of all my favorite weapon. As i see it now, the LSW is the same gun that the rifleman uses with the same zoom, same sound, only a beter model and 6 less mags. I think the LSW should either get more zoom or increased mags, otherwise it is a cooler, limited version of the L85A1. Is there any difference between the LSW and L85A1 in game?

The LSW has a longer barral and possbly and small handle at the back.
IT is a variation of the L85/SA80 (whatever the name) line of weapons, same weapon (calibre, mag type ext.) but with few alterations, giving it a greater range.
I also think it uses the same SUSAT scope - therefore increased zoom is impossible.
But like all these weapons you can add different scopes - so if the LSW was equipted with a nice little thermal baby with extra zoom, that would be cool with me.

Although i have never used the PR version, want to, but i never really play any maps that have em.

@DEVs: "An Image Intensifier night sight, the CWS, has been produced for LSW, which gives excellent night vision out to 400m." = mabey, although it would not actualy make a sod of difference considering present night vision makes all scopes nightvision scopes........hmm

THe peeps who create that site i am damn sure, have never held a gun, "We believe that ..." - lol, they dont actualy know, it is possible we have tank but that cannot be confirmed - complete idiots.

I think its supposed to be more accurate than the standard L85A2 (due to the longer, heavier floating barrel) which is why it has fewer magazines. As previoulsy mentioned it can only use (in its current state, with a 19mm dovetail rail anyway) the SA80 Iron sights, SUSAT scope and CWS day/night sight. So properly "sniperizing" it to the level of say the SVD or Mk.12 is very trickey, and I would imagine that the DEVs are hesitant to give it more magazines becuase of the advantage that would have over other factions marksmen.

which gun are you talking about? Obviously brit...but which class?

Basicly the L85A2, with a longer barrel and bi-pod. Used as a DMR. Its the sniper request kit for the brits on urban maps, like street, thou at the moment the model is really small, needs a new import.

well it beats me to y the lsw is even under marksman and y the saw is even in the brits load out. the lsw should be under support, and the brits dont even use the saw....

Model has been tweaked for v0.5.

It is more accurate than the other L85 variants in game, but still fires a standard NATO 5.56 round, so doesn't have the stopping power of the 7.62 based sniper rifles.

We use the Minimi, which is a variation of the SAW.

The LSW only has a 30 Round magazine, not large enough for a support weapon in PR, the L86 LSW is also used as a marksman weapon by British Forces, thus making it a realistic Marksman weapon, ala project reality.

Ive used the LSW,

I can tell you, it is the SA-80 with a longer barrel (which gives it the extra accuracy), it has the Same SUSAT, and a small grip on the rear.

The LSW is also compatible with a round mag, which holds over 50+ rounds.

LSW :

SA80 :

Weight: 4.13 kg (with SUSAT optical sight and no magazine); 5 kg with SUSAT and loaded with magazine with 30 rounds of ammunition

Rate of fire: 650 rounds per minute
Effective range: about 500 meters (with SUSAT sights)

The weapon your talking about is the LSW exactly the same as the SA80 A1 but with a longer barrel and bypod to allow more accuratcy used by rifle man not support they would use a GPMG L8 / L38.
Now with the sa80 A2 the lsw is going out of service and being replaced with the "MINIMI" link provided http://www.army.mod.uk/equipment/pw/minimi.htm this is used as a support weapon. The inf rifle man only has the sa80 A2 thats it. Hope V0.5 takes this into account.

Im pretty sure that drum mags for the SA80 are very, very rare.

very rare indead they got rid of them due to the heat at the time was too much and caused stoppage`s. But yes there was a drum.

Yeah it is a very rare, ive only seen it being used twice in the cadets.

I think drum mags should be used more.

The LSW is issued down to section level, it is the weapon of the marksman/sharpshooter, it is the A2 version, the susat is the same, it was designed as the Light Support weapon, originally

The CWS is issued to the SA80 , The GPMG, The MINIMI, not just the LSW.
