I've been looking at this monitor since it was announced and I've been mulling it over whether to purchase it or not.

I figured I would try a cheaper option before dropping $800 on the Swift. I thought about the ASUS VG248QE and installing the Gsync kit myself that Nvidia sells, but I can't find the kit anywhere for it's original price of $199. Can you? I now have an AOC monitor in mind too.

I'm surprised more PR players haven't thought about trying Gsync out. From what I've heard, it really helps the game feel smooth when the frames drop to about 30 and we all know that happens in PR quite often unless you've got a beastly CPU. Well, it's probably silly to buy a new monitor for such an old mod, but I've done it before. I for one can't wait to try it.

Just moved to Ohio and noticed there are a few Micro Centers near me. I've never been to one and I have the day off, so I figured what the heck. I'll make the trip.

Originally it was just going to be for the Intel 4790K on sale for $250 for an upcoming ITX build, but I noticed they also have the ROG Swift in stock. Oh boy. I'm going to have to hide the plastic money cards.

I'm really interested to see if the PR experience is better on this monitor with G-Sync when the frames drop. I'll let you guys know when I finally pull the trigger and buy it.

So, I visited my local Micro Center today. It was so cool! I had never been to one before and it was like being a kid in a very expensive candy store! It blew me away. I had trouble taking it all in lol.

I didn't pull the trigger though on the Swift. I did however pick up a 4790K processor for an upcoming mini ITX build. I couldn't resist since Micro Center has it on sale for $250right now and that's a heck of a deal.

Back to the Swift though. I almost let out a little fan girl squeal when a sales associate brought one out for me to contemplate.

why you buy a CPU at microcenter and not your miniITX mobo on same day?

there is a $40 combo discount on any Z97 mobo you buy with the CPU.

That is the microcenter deal to be had.

go back return, buy both at same time.

The circular flyers when you first walk in, the online version is here:

P.S. give them email and address so you can get the flyer mailed to you. It's good breakfast reading material.

I know Lito. They didn't have the ASUS Maximus VII Impact mini ITX board in stock. I didn't even see them with it listed on their website. Amazon has it though for $230, $10 off compared to NewEgg. ;-)

The check out guy asked for me e-mail and address after I told him I was breaking my Micro Center cherry. I expect to see MC advertisements in my inbox soon.

THey also always have the crucial RAm + CPU combo discount ,
and sporadically have the Corsair RAM = CPU discount.

Also, when the ASUS Maximus LGA1155 mini ITX and ATX was first stocked at microcenter, they did NOT put it on the website, you had to walk in and ask the guys at the BYO PC desk for that mobo.

They get them sporadically, expect another shipment to arrive next week, just in time for the Black Friday sales.

Do NOT go to MC on black friday....
