when it first starts up and asks to locate it should be installed i put in the right folder and it says its not the root to the game, i got it through steam and its not a fake copy so please help i have try'd just about every thing

does vanilla BF2 single player work if you open it in steam?

what directory exactly are you inputting as the BF2 directory? It needs to be your equivalent of this directory: (for reference it's where ever the BF2.exe executable is located)

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\battlefield 2\

Default location in Windows XP/Vista/7/8/2008/2012 for Steam installations:

so i did exactly that and it still wont let me install it
