I have seen many accidents happen because of this "key"! For several people do not change the key to talk to your squad (especially beginners).
It mostly happens with car/truck bomb. The player presses the Num 0 to speak to you squad and explodes the car bomb. In my server, has happened many times exploding car bomb in mainbase.

People who change the key, typically use the button "B". I would recommend in the next update (v1.3?!), change Num 0 to B in mumble.

Cheers, something we are looking into now you've mentioned it, although I doubt we will change the key in mumble, rather change the BF2 key, or at least warn the players about the conflict.

For now we just advise players to reassign or clear the key in your ingame control settings, or if they prefer reassign the mumble key to remove the conflict

I used to drop random crates over the ocean when flying trans and talking at the same time xD

I suggest you move the default mumble key to V as it is much easily accessible when using both the mouse and keyboard at the same time and also it doesn't create conflicts.

Given the years the mumble keys have been set and the fact that we would also have to change the manual makes it overall a worse idea to Change mumble key and much more efficient to simply unbind the 0 in the controls somehow in its default setting.

I always recommend players to change original key. The problem is that we remember after an accident.
If it is too complicated to change the key on mumble at least try to remove game (Land Vehicle, Aircraft, Helicopter and Boat).

I even saw people being banned by this problem.

I always use "H" for squad mumble anyway.

For me the best alternative to the Num 0 is middle mouse mutton. Very easy to reach and haven't had any conflicts with it in about 8 months with it.

It doesn't really matter what the default squad mumble key is set to.

All that matters is that numpad_0 doesn't cause a bombtruck or bombcar to explode.

I use the "." key on the numpad for sq chat, then I use the the button on left side of my house for mumble local!

I've blown up a few bomb cars in main because of this smart idea to put talk key to bomb detonate key. I was always like "where should I drive this to?" and it went BOOOM.

Now my talk button is in numpad decimal.

Ah yes, the first half year of playing i believed this was a bug ^^

I don't understand why, after so many years of developing this game to be the best it can be, this is still a problem.

Can we get some kind of confirmation on whether or not this is hardcoded into the game? Or if it will be fixed in the next patch?

I really don't like seeing 12 cars on fire in mainbase when I spawn.

We did fix this. Numpad0 is no longer default button for alt fire in upcoming patches. However it wont change your existing keys, so anyone that has it like this has to fix this himself.
