Intel or AMD?

Hi,
I am considering of getting a new PC and debating on what processor to get. I am primarily going to use it to game, but will be using it for modeling and just the basic PC use.
I'm thinking of getting one of these processors...
Intel one,
Intel Core i7-4770 Haswell
Intel Two,
Intel i5-4690K Haswell
OR
AMD one,
AMD Processor FX-8350 BE Vishera 8-Core 4.0GhZ
AMD Two,
AMD FX-6350
I heard both are good processors, but I'm primarily going to consider using it for ARMA 3, PR, and few others. I have seen posts saying: Intel is good for everything. Then, AMD is good for most games out there now.
I might just get a good Processor and a mid Graphics Card, since I don't plan to spend $700+ on a build. I think Intel processor has a decent price on it IMO. And the AMD of course lower price too. If anyone owns either one, how does it perform? Does it do well on ARMA 3 (If you own it), as well as other games such as Insurgency, and other games on steam?
Just want to know which one you guys recommend. Recommend different ones too!

I'm good on other components though.
Thanks a lot!

Hey there,
I have an i5 4690k and I can recommend it for ArmA 3. As you may already know A3 isn't really a game that's optimized for multi core processors so you may want to go with Intel.
In my (slightly biased) opinion the 4690k is currently on the upper end of the "sweet spot" regarding value for money.

Those Intel chips you linked destroy the AMD ones in gaming. Night and day difference.
The AMD cpus are ok and great if you are on a budget. If you have the funds though, Intel is the way to go.

The i5 4690 will do well, along with a solid GPU and a good SSD. The rest concerns you and tweaking your system to work well and run Arma3 well.
If you live close to Micro Center, here, save yourself a ~ $30...maybe get a good cooling solution.

Hah, Massive you know you're spending too much time online volunteering tech support when you know the best prices for CPUs on a different continent.
(Been there, done that too)

Indeed. You are right. I have also been there and done that a while ago or you forgot.
Congrats on promotion - Lead

Not sure where you looked; but AMD is worse in most games out there, not "good."

I also have a 4690k (brand new) and ive used it for Arma 3. It works brilliantly, but don't put your computer on low power settings and make yourself think the shit hit the fan and troubleshoot for hours like I did.
ps: if you are thinking of overclocking obviously get a good cpu fan or water system, or even if you aren't thinking of oc make sure your ventilation is good in your case because I came pretty near having a problem when I introduced my big ol GPU to my cramped case.

My friend had AMD CPU for Arma 3 and he said it was pretty bad experience, CPU not handling it well (one of the FX series). He got i5, everything is smooth as heaven right now.
I myself went i5-4590 and I am very satisfied with its performance together with 970.
FYI I disregarded 970 issue with VRAM because I run one monitor at 1680x1050 resolution so I am not worrying about performance drop. Also BF 4 on Ultra looks pretty

Intel all the way, imo. Had both and i find intel to be faster. So if you have dat money go for intel.

Intel i5-4690K Haswell would be my choice.
Simply put, it's the simplest way to get a significant performance CPU that will have longevity.

Sorry for the late reply! Held up at work the past few days. (No, not anything violent).
Thanks for the suggestions guys! Yeah, The intel ones are pricey, but I'll probably get a more 'medium' priced graphics card. (Not some $200 one). I'm not a overclocker, not at all. Newegg REALLY caught my eye on this bundle they have...
Newegg Bundle i5-4690k for the price $576.99, I see it as a decent deal. Especially the processor. But the prices aren't that bad on the i5 processors I listed.
Yes, you guys can call me cheap lol. I currently have a intel processor in my current pooprig. (Silly Pentium Dualcore @2.70ghz). Performs GREAT on basic tasks imo, just sucks for gaming, and higher tasks.
Sorry about this, but Any recommendations on a GPU that is less then $150 that is SOMEWHAT decent? Just the bundle I listed, I think is a good deal, don't know what your guys's input is on it.

If buying a new GPU move up to the gtx 750 Ti,
or find a used Radeon HD 7950, GTX 660 Ti, HD 7870 LE (XT), etc.

I guess its not that bad. Consider upgrading your GPU in the future. GTX750 is baseline with 1GB of VRAM and 128bit bus. Don't expect miracles with it.
For under 150 you cant get better deal than this. For just a bit above 200 you can get GTX960 which is much better than GTX 750 its newer, has 2GB of VRAM is also 128bit.

Yeah, I am going to upgrade the gpu like maybe 1mo-2mo after I get the stuff.
@Lito, Yeah, I was considering of getting a used card as well. I know some places where I can get some around me. Thanks for the suggestions!
@Massive, Yeah, of course I will upgrade it in the future. I am not a graphics type of person. I'll play on medium-high. Thanks for the link, I think that could be a potential for a GPU upgrade in the future.
BTW, for the intel I listed in my OP, (
Intel i5-4690k) Should I buy a CPU cooler, or is the default heatsink and cooler good enough if I am not going to be overclocking with it.
Thanks for the help though guys!

Stock cooler is fine! Mine was a bit wonky at the beginning after putting in my gpu and I was getting high idle temps but I figured out it was because I hadn't mounted the fan just right. After fixing that, I dropped about 8 degrees C

If you are not into overclocking, I suggest you buy the non-k version of the 4690k which is a bit cheaper. Then you can also save some money by going with an H97 mainboard instead of the more expensive Z97 ones. (Z97 is for overclocking, H97 for everything else)
However, overclocking isn't that hard, especially if you use the auto-overclock feature (oh no I said jehovah) which most Z97-mainboards have. I overclocked my 4690k to 4.4 ghz by simply selecting it in the uefi of my mainboard.

Speaking of UEFI, how do you make that work? I see them as boot options (not selectable) in my bios but I can't figure out how to configure it.

1st get installation of Windows with UEFI/EFI folder
2nd, when you will select it to boot, there will be UEFI CD/DVD ROM or USB or just standard CD/DVD ROM or USB
Select to boot from UEFI version, to start installation
3rd installing system, it will make stuff right and in boot options Windows Bootloader will appear to boot from.
And that's about it.
About benefits, please look up in google, why UEFI is better than BIOS.
By default you cant boot empty drives and MBR drives in UEFI mode.

Sorry for asking this, but...
Has anyone ever purchased any components off of Ebay? I'm looking to get a graphics card off of there.
Believe it or not, I've never bought anything off of Ebay before. I usually buy stuff off of Amazon, or store sites.
Thanks!
