That entrance where you have to drive by the little fort and under the arch. whenever a match starts at ramiel i always try setting up a ambush there but everyone just goes in on helicopters boringly. :/ why doesn't anybody ever go that route?

maybe everybodys expecting an ambush on such tight roads?

If you want to set up an ambush on Ramiel AAS go to the far NE corner of the map with some technicals and RPGs and wait in the low ground. Blufor usually sets up a FOB there before trying to take the first flag.

Lol obvious route = obvious ambush comeonnnn.

If you had the choice as BLUFOR on any map, or in real life, would you choose the road tightly hugged by buildings that could be mined or IED'd, or another route with possibly a larger road, less dense buildings, etc.?

Ambushes are hard in PR anymore since people know the obvious spots, if you want to set up an ambush it has to be somewhere people don't expect you to go.

For instance, on lashkar, I typically take a few mortar/ mine IED's and set them up along the main western road. Do people expect an ambush there? Sure, but on that map there are only so many routes vehicles can take without being slowed down substantially. That being said, vehicles can enter Ramiel from wherever they want since the city is so large with so many safer entrances.

ieds I have notice can be buggy when a heavy armoured vehicle drives over it as the ied didn't effect it but when the crewmen got out they just dropped dead from it ages later

IEDs work as intended, mortar IEDs are for infantry and light vehicle destruction (With large AOE) while mine IEDs are for heavy vehicles (with less AOE)

Before going too much further in your PR Career, taken half an hour and read through the manual, it's very well detailed and explain how most weapon systems work in game.

This road was dubbed Ambush Alley. For much of it's early existence, the majority of the fighting would take place there and would prove very treacherous for BLUFOR to make any progress northwards. RPGs and AKs did the brunt of the damage, but breaking through was futile for the number of IEDs on this road.
BLUFOR now avoid it community-wide, and OPFOR will always follow BLUFOR for a fight.

the fact that you think of that road as a great place to set up your ambush is exactly why the blufor don't use it.

also why go up a tight narrow road lined with tall buildings on either side when there are plenty of other ways into the city? the problem with this road is that it's just a narrow line of buildings sticking out of the rest of the city. Strategically speaking there's absolutely no reason to use it. Even if the objective that needs to be hit is smack in the middle of it, the blufor can approach from the sides of this protrusion and avoid coming up the road..
