lol, I can totally understand how you class it both as the best and worst map, but best and worst looking map, not sure, other than the streets are pretty empty and could really do with more detail and life

I think the place its lacking is the sidewalks, a simple texture makes it class what all the other awesomeness for me. Fondest memories for me is muttrah v1, awesome assault and so many noobs trying to fly after coming from vbf2.

Ye, 2D pavements/sidewalks was done since back then I could hardly model, had lots of other much higher priority static models to make and it would have really required a unique pavement/sidewalk model made for each block
But if I was to do the map again I would now certainly do 3D ones among many other things

Good Evening,
I don't know that you can do an overall best / worst map scenario due to the different layouts. I'll give it a try. I use the infantry in its loosest definition here.
Best inf map: Fallujah - everyone hates it but everyone plays it.
Worst inf map: Asad Kahl - that is to say the latest version is, IMO
Best asset map: Kashan - I only say this because the assets seem to be balanced and inclusive.
Worst asset map: Yamalia - lags like a mother
Best pop'ing map: Fallujah - again, everyone hates it but everyone plays it.
Worst pop'ing map: Take your pick of any 4km map, these are the worst to pop a server.
That's my two cents.

Best map: Kozelsk or Brecourt Assault
Worst map: Muttrah, overplayed with same firefights in the same 3 alleyways and the same 2 t-shape buildings.
Best looking map: Brecourt Assault
Worst looking map: Karbala
Fondest memories: The battle for Qinling and defending that little hill at d6 and its loading music
(honest question. Can battle for qinling be put back in?)

Best map: Shija Valley, Sbeneh Outskirts
Worst map: Bijar when the city area isn't in play. Playing as infantry.
Best looking map: Dovre, Sbeneh Outskirts, Lashkar
Worst looking map: Ramiel
Fondest memories: Getting into PR playing Al Basrah back in 2008 with IRL friends.
Arctic Lion night version has a really cozy effect if the round is good.

Brecourt Assault was such an awesome map!! You never felt safe with all of the hedgerows. So intense, chaotic, and immersive. Absolutely loved that map.
And here are two that I think have really set a new standard in PR because they are just so damn convincing and immersive:
SBENEH and OMAHA (from the alpha)
I always thought it was funny that Karbalah and Basrah consist of a few block of very large buildings and then suddenly there's nothing, just a huge desert surrounding them, with no suburbs or smaller buildings. I think Sbeneh feels very natural in comparison because of the way buildings blend naturally with the terrain. That's why it's a step up (granted I love the gameplay on Basrah). And Omaha is just awesome. Can't wait for it to get tweaked and released.

My personal favorites
Best map: Black Gold/ Fools Road
Best looking map: Fools Road/ Kham
Black Gold is in my opinion the best combined arms map. I hate CAS choppers, but I think the jets keep them away pretty damn well. Its still easy to play as infantry on the map and when you get the east side flags the hill to hill engagements are killer.
Fools Road is beautiful, it may not be the best balanced map, but its still super fun to sent up ambushes as MIL and even fall into them as the brits and fun is more important to me than winning all the time.

best map: Dovre
best looking map: Charlie's Point
map with the best balance: Beirut/Marlin
worst map: Kashan
worst looking map: can't say there is one. Kashan is bland and uninteresting, but that's what a desert is.
maps with the worst balance: Archer/Korengal
best map introduced in 1.0 and onward: Dovre/Saarema
fondest memories: Too many, really.

best map : Shijia,Kozelsk, Xiangshan, underplayed maps, Khamisiyah.
worst map: Fallujah, Muttrah. (Not saying poorly made, because they are NOT. Same old tactics, same old layout, cache locations.)
worst looking map: Kashan
best looking map: They all look pretty.
best asset layout : I like Shijia's layout, personally it's a great layout.
fondest memories map: Was in a tank squad on Canadian layout of Kashan, with the [TZ] guys (or something like that), it was a blast.

Most technical-made and beautiful maps:
Shijia Valley (epic, 4km but still so much detail. The entire map has some eye candy here and there, like a kids playground, restaurants, and more.
Muttrah City. Epic job on recreating it from a real example.
My favourite gameplay maps:
Dragon Fly, Fools Road, Dovre, Sbeneh Outskirts, Saaremaa, Kashan (yes, old but gold), Korengal.
