I've searched the forums and can't find a solution. Google so far has only suggested unregistering and reregistering dlls, or scandisk and neither have solved the problem. I've replaced the .dll, still no dice. System restore, also no luck.

Has anyone encountered this error before? I'm lost.

that dll has an associated .mui file that needs to match, at least that
s my remembering of it.

you need to tell us if you have the 32 or 64 bit version of windows.
I'll dropbox you a copy of my dll and matching dll,mui files.
Not sure how to register that dll.mui file though.

do a search for the file on your OS drive , you'll see multiple versions, screencap it and post here.

64 bit, what details do you need me to screen cap?

Problem solved, I replaced every instance of the avifil32.dll file in the winsys folder, I found the corrupted version.
