I did a quick search to see if this has come up before, and apparently it hasn't which is quite suprising.

I know this isn't a big issue but I feel its a bit of a sterotype not to mention almost entirely wrong to have this tea drinker voice over we have for the Brits. Since when the the Army/Marines stop recruiting people without aristocratic backgrounds?

I know there has to be some UK players out there that agree with me. As my mate put it "One is slightly worried one may eat lead". It's not a serious issue but I just feel like I'm in a bit of a parody when the guys around me screaming for ammo sound like they are ordering another pot of Earl Gray.

Where are the Northerners, Cockneys and Scots?

No offence to the guy(s) that proivided the sound files.

I know for a fact that with the media reporting out of certain war zones, certain high ranking officers are never voice interviewed due to their extreme RP accents likelihood of putting the civilians heckles up back home. They pick who is to open their mouth on tape very carefully!

Officers are even encouraged to have girlfriends/wives with local accents too. I've met a few whose local accents were so thick that they were difficult to hear 100% in a noisy officers mess.

But on the battlefield, things must be clear and you do find that people raise their accents (upwards convergence) towards officer level or at least cleaning them up so their reports are legible to all. Soldiers soon find that if their buddies aren't from their local area, they cannot operate as well as they should be when using thick accents. I had to flatten my RP accent when using radios at one point, then clean it up later when I picked up the yorkshire accent.

Yeah, i don't get it that they can use the SF RPG's and BMP's, but not the SAS voices. Or mix it up abit between your own voices and the SF SAS voices to give some variation. Or even the Euro Force voices, what language do they speak? You could use those and mix it up even more?

In PR.4-

squad member- PR recordings (the good ones)
squad leader- Vanilla Special forces
commander- Vanilla Special forces

I think so anyway. So 2/3 of the voice are not new ones, i would think it will be added when the voice actors do all the right recordings and add them in.

starlight!

The ones in SF are awful, sort of like Monty Python.

I love my unaccented English.

Hollywood English FTW. (I'm in Ontario)

I don't really like the accents either. They do seem too much like a snooty guy with a monacle. But mainly I dislike the *length* of the british radios. A lot of them are too long.

I too am an Northerner. Were the internets still broadcast in black and white and the sheep are still allowed to vote and women aren't!

So if you need i can happily say

"cross-beams come out o'skew on'treddle"

or

"by-hek int that r' Compo comin down t'hill on th'old bath tub"

or in a sean bean style voice

"go frodo, take t'ring t' Moredor, and then marry that samwise. That poofters got a thing for you am sure"

Sorry if you can't understand any of that, thats what you get for growing up in "Last of the summer wine" country :? ??:

By northern you surely don't mean geordies?

How about scousers, or lankys?

Have you heard the european forces in 2142?

Ridiculous.

A guy will be bleeding to death with only a few seconds to live and will say with a clear, clipped english accent very calmly: 'man down, man down' and then die knowing that he had a jolly fine run what - ho!

And anyway, i thought all the brit sounds for PR were from SF because, no offense but they sound nothing like normal British people. They don't sound to posh as such but just quite wrong, like dice gave up finding a British person and just got whowever had the best americenglish accent out there.

I'll be damned if a scouser lets his voice get onto this game.
