This is a map that i have made in the last 3 days, its a test to myself on how quickly i can make a decent map from scratch and with out any tools, the whole map is made by hand (sculpting heightmap and painting textures). This is not to get in the way of my other map in progress (Baghdis Mountain) so i will not work on it more for now, except if there are major bugs or issuses) I focused on making a map that has a unique gamestyle to it, both teams get 2 attack jets, frogfot for RU and Harrier IIs for USMC toghether with 1 Attack chopper.
there are 3 flags on each of the centre horizontal islands and they are always open for cap, meaning that the commander will have a crucial role in deciding what islands to defend and which to attack.
The winning tactic on this map is to have a excelent transport squad that can take squads from island to island, together with dropping supplies for the crucial FOBs

Scenario of the map is that the Russian do a surprise assault on an small airstrip next to a major US ICBM site in the pacific, the are landing reinforcements to this airstrip in the mission to capture all of the facility. The USMC responds with sending a Carrier group to defend.
it will be a non-mirrored asset layout with each team having different perks, the US must rely on their agile and fast CAS and fast assets, (Ospreys, Swiftboats, LAVs). While the Russian Naval units will focus on Strong IFVs (BMP3 and BMP2, in combination with the strong but slow Mi-24.

Cool, maybe increase the size of the islands a bit. Btw is there a dl-link for the trees and bushes? I think I've seen them in xiangshan but I can't find them anywhere:/

The US carrier is 300m long? :D .. Is it really that necessary? Btw, took me 5 minutes to reach Russia's first flag when I drove BMP-3. It was a pain in *** to drive that long in water.

Also, I think this map should have PLA vs. USMC or PLA vs. French.

E: for me, the map with multiple air assets and islands, felt like BF2 vanilla and very arcade-ish. Didn't feel like Project Reality.

E2: Could be fun with boats and helicopters only. No APCs or that kind of fancy stuff. Russia (Or other faction) deploys from cargo ship, USMC from carrier with boats. Like some quick-response-forces

Map itself looked nice. I flew around and didn't see any major glitches. But the carrier was disturbingly long.

It would be nice to have different factions than USMC vs Russia which is heavily used already.

France or Britain could both work.
Russia vs China as well.
Factions don't matter that much though. A good map is a good map regardless.

PLA vs FR/NL would be cool! Underused blufor factions with some assets that can serve for marine attack.

Only thing is that you would need a lot of boats or amphibious vehicles. The islands are really close together so it would be difficult to fly between islands without getting blasted.

would it be possible to code the jets on this peticular map to have a harder breaking effect than the rest? would be really cool to be able to lands jets on the carrier, not only the harrier. I tried with several types of jets, but they all fell off the edge at like 10km/h.. so close, yet so far.

Having done a quick fly around in a V22 there are some obvious problems.
The isands should all be moved northwest to be closer to the Russian main and further from the US carrier. Otherwise it looks like with some more testing and fixes this could be an awesome addition to PR. Likely to have some very unique gameplay. The water is like Muttrahs which is very pleasing to look at. Apart from the delicious looking beaches, the tiling of many of the textures is a little too apparent.
Also the northwest island in the cluster is out of bounds. not sure if that's intentional or not.

If you switch the factions maybe leave a V22 to simulate US support.

A lot of work would be needed to be put into this map before it could be considered for an official PR map.

If you want CATOBAR/STOBAR jets on this map then the only real option is to refine the CATOBAR code from Combined Arms:
You would also ideally would need to modify the carrier with an angle deck too, or ideally have a proper CATOBAR/STOBAR carrier model hehe :p

Im leaving this map to anyone who wants to continue to develop it, i think its a good base if any of the less experienced mappers here wants to learn the ropes with a good foundation, just write here or PM me and ill provide you with all the editor files.

MIG-21 is not fully coded, but maybe it gets fixed in 1.3, like you can fly it but strafing may be difficult.

Our mistake for leaving the A4 and MIG21 in the files. The combined warfare map for vietnam wasn't finished yet but the assets stayed in the game.

Those vietnam assets (mi8,A4,littlebirds,MIG21 and a few tanks) were all unfinished and shouldn't be used really. You are free to do so but expect bugs and non-PR gameplay from them at times.

They lack mostly proper handling , weapon implementation and sounds.

...

So how bad can i expect it yo be? BF2 handling?

Is the Mi8, PT-76 and OH-6 with Miniguns also bugged?

mi8 will most likely be fine given it's a copy of the normal one. OH-6 had really buggy flying physics last I used one. Not sure about the tank.

I'd expect BF2/AIX type handling for most of these assets. Although I have no idea what source the OH-6 and tanks come from :D

My thoughts about unfinished/bugged statics/assets being included in the build/official release

i mean, its just a freaking tease, i really want this and when you know it would be an easy fix just to clone the coding from another vehicle...
