Servers still running Steel Thunder?

I haven't seen Steel Thunder played in months and it was one of the better pre and post patch maps out there. Can any servers put it back on there on the 16 version and then try the 32 and see if it is not as laggy as it was or something? It was the only real good Forest map. Just needs the vehicles to be taken off.

I love this map, tho I am a bit played out on it.
has had a redux for v0.5 to hopefully improve performance issues.

I saw one and it's European, can't remember the name but during the day (UK time) you should see it with a decent number of people in it.

I played this so much in PR .25, along with Oasis and SaK2, as they were the only custom maps at the time.

Agreed. Steel Thunder is one of the better customs maps and is a good break from desert and urban maps.

Yeah it was fun. Especaly 64.
wounder how it is with all the changes?
Shame i wont find out in a server because of the obsession with Maps like EJOD and Mutrah(dont get me wrong, good levels but they are starting to hurt).
So Much for British forces.....I think they needa 'starlight to their location' and need to be put back on the rotation, other than Op Ghoast train.

I like Ghost Train, although it is a seriously big map on 32 and 64 player versions with a good couple of squads on each team it's very interesting. Then again, you could say that for any map...

Steel Thunder has had a big make over for the next release to imrpove performance and gameplay
It hope it will be played alot more in v0.5
I think the main thing that server admins dont like about the map, is 1 that it has armor on it, and many servers dont run armor (igi) and when it has 64 players in it it lags alot.
thou I hope with some performance fixes ive made it will reduce the lag by abit. with any luck but cant be sure till ive tested it with 64 ppl playing in it hehe

We are running it, 16 player version. Check it out at PR whores delight. (208.100.4.164:16567) it is the latter part of our rotation but it is there.

It was one of my faves, at least the 32 man version...........
I had one of my zen gaming moments I will never forget moving through the wood in a line calling out contacts and backing each other up. It was how the game was meant to be played. The trees and grass and all just seemed perfect, with people actually using cover, felt like the grand scene in that Bruce Willis Tears of the Sun movie.
(Before I get flamed, yes, I have talked to a lot of my army and marine friends that all say that wasn't as realistic as it would appear, got to love hollywood.)

I would say that Steel Thunder 32 or 64 definately own Operation Ghost Train when it comes to forest/jungle/woodland maps. OGT is nice too, but the fighting occurs under dark canopies and feels a little more authentic. I like OGT too, but Steel Thunder just has something special about it. Also, the flags have a lot more cover to use.
