Codenames for all the other vehicles

In PR there are tons of vehicles. They all have their weird letter and number combination, Btr-60, FV4034, WZ551 and so on. Many of these vehicles have some sort of easier to remember and easier for speaking kind of codename. Many of are taken out of real life. But some are stuff we in this community have made up ourself. Gary, beast, shitbox, tincan and so on.

I am of course glad that we don't have to call the mtlb with pkt - just that, instead we say shitbox. But that's not good enough for me. I would like us in this community come up for codenames for the vehicles that have none. For example the chinese apc with 30mm, I just refer to as "big apc", or "big gun apc". It deserves something in the style of "challenger", "puma" and "warrior". You know what I mean. Some names are kind of lame but still works like bmp1-3, and btr etc, but nothing like type 90, type 92, so boring and unremarkable.

If there is a nickname for the vehicle already that is used by the military but we don't know of, that is great, we can use that then. I particulary interested of what the french, german and say about their vehicles.

0. Share some good codename that maybe isn't that know with the rest of us.
1. List the vehicles that have a crappy code or no codename at all.
2. What do the soldiers in that army call it?
3. Come up with something good that sticks and start using it!

Let me begin at the top of my head:
Chinese 25mm apc
Chinese 25mm apc with tow
Chinese tow apc
Chinese tank
French big apc
mtlb with 12.7mm
french helicopters(i think)

probably not all of them...now GO!

MTLB has PKT, not PKM.

IIRC "challenger" is just "chally" now.

Also, Chinese APC is 25mm.

I'm pretty sure the white French APC is named shitbus.
MTLB with 12.7mm is just "MTLB."

7,62 MTLB = peashooter
12,7 MTLB = (fifty cal) MTLB
30 mm MTLB = Beast
VAB/M113 = shitbox
Mi-17 = Cow

no code name - could use one

BTR-80A
BTR-80
BTR-60

people mix those so often, would be good if they had some common codenames.

Supposedly Chechens called BMPs and BTRs "Torch" since they were so cramped and lightly armored.

I often hear people call all CAS choppers "Cobra" or "Havok", wheeled APCs are "LAVs" or "BTRs" and tracked ones "Bradleys".
Usually call them by real name or just APC/IFV/Tank/etc. and if more information is needed just add "big gun" or "AT".

That's a particularly shitty designation for all comms purposes. I think we all should refer to it as the Wizzy from now on.

Most jets/planes/attack helicopters will always just be referred to as CAS due to their similar role.
The only ones for which people use the nicknames are the out of the ordinary or the famous ones like the A-10, the Apache, the Cobra and of course the Hind to name a couple.

Through land vehicles are usually named by their nickname (or their official designation such as the T90) and sometimes nicknames are made for some vehicles such as the Beast. Through there are still a lot of vehicles that have difficult to pronounce names without a nickname which are just referred to by it's role/size.

Point is, if someone doesn't know the name they will prefer to use either their own nickname for it or the function of the vehicle. If we would stamp the military nickname knowledge in to everybodies minds they would still rather just use their own nicknames or designations.

Well, being cramped and lightly armored leads to a lot of problems, fires being one of them.
