I heard there is going to be a game called ''Squad'' being released from the guys that made this mod. Now my question is will this still be developed after Squads release ? and are we close to any update for this mod ?

This game will continue developing while people continue play it. There are hundreds of people who play it everyday. SQUAD(in its full form) won't come out in any near future.

Plus, its not guaranteed that SQUAD will be successful(though I hope it would be). Being commercial, means they have a lot of limitations - which could be met variously by the gaming community. Game price, DLCs, prone to censorship that some countries demand, inability to licence all assets(names, forms etc) - which would require creating fictional name or unauthentic 3d model etc, - and some people prefer authenticness.

Also, 2 games can coexist in harmony - why not?.

There are still plenty of developers around that aren't / won't be working on Squad, but BF2 R instead. So yes, it's still being developed and will be for the foreseeable future.

PR:BF2 is still very much in development, some developers are even working on both PR:BF2 and Squad at the same time

Rhino when will the PR dev team start using real time instead of Valve time?

Not seeing an update on April 1st was kinda disheartening.

We're glad you're all so eager of an update. Sometimes things take their time, and things just weren't ready by April 1st.

We like to release stuff then, as you know, but we have limited resources.

Also, on a personal note: It's a bit of a high expectation to want a day normally reserved for stupid pranks to bring new releases of the game instead. We did that once or twice, but please keep in mind that these were exceptions and took a great deal of work.

Also: You'd be surprised.

Anyway, game is still WIP and will be for some time.
