M2A2 ODS driver's thermal

The bradley currently has no thermals for the driver, even though the Operation Desert Storm (M2A2 ODS) model upgrades include it.
The internal stowage was further improved and a thermal imaging system was added for the driver.
Driver's Vision Enhancer. The DVE is an uncooled, forward-looking infrared (FLIR), real-time thermal-imaging system.

what about the BMP3 and the BMP-2M? those sights can be installed separated for the commander.

If this site is to be believed both BMP-2M and BMP-3 have a drivers sight with day/night modes. Though I am not sure if this means thermals or just an IR spotlight type of thing.

Probably just some IR deal.

Why were driver's thermals removed? Whoever removed them didn't do their homework. Same with MEC BMP-3.

It doesn't have a panoramic thermal sight, that came with the A3 upgrade, thus back to no thermals. The DVE doesn't really count as that, given its only forward mounted and really only for night driving.

As for bmp-3, the commander/driver hasn't had thermals for a while but gunners thermals were removed this update as well as A. Russia don't use thermal sights on theirs, and B. The model we have has only the 1K13-2 day/night sight.

Challenger 2 doesn't have it either, hence why they're trying to upgrade it right now irl.

Yeah obviously Russia doesn't have thermals in their versions but M-E exports have french thermals on them, for both driver and gunner.

How come the bradley doesn't already have 2 cameras then, I guess implementation isn't ready?

Yeah this will probably happen, but not for driver seat, as far as i'm aware a bmp-3 has never had a CITV in military service. Not even in middle east exports.

Don't really know, i guess mats just forgot prior to the release.

I'm not sure I understand. From what I found out, either gunner has thermals along with commander, or commander and gunner share the same FLIR camera through different monitors installed on each station.
Spoiler for M-E BMP-3 exports with French \"Namut\" optics:

Of course, it seems there are some non-thermal versions out there such as this:

And as far as the Russian BMP-3, after some more research it does seem like no thermals is the more common configuration in pictures available on the internet. Then again it doesn't give us an accurate representation of reality. A considerable amount of images and information exist also, showing they use FLIR optics for gunners.

Yeah i'm not disputing that the commander should have access to thermals, as far as i'm aware a commanders station having access to the gunners thermals is fairly common, getting the most out of a single thermal sight makes sense. But it's not the 360 all seeing eye that we had in PR previously, that's now reserved for vehicles that actually have a CITV such as m1a2, puma, leopard etc.
However there is something in the works to see if the gunners primary sight extension for the commander can be implemented in-game.

First picture is a BMD-4M, second and third are bmp-3's fitted with BMD-4 Bakhcha-U turrets, they did trials in the late 90's, don't really know anymore about it, i guess it was deemed not enough of an upgrade for the money?

Unless the m2a3 system is implemented ingame the current ods e ingame has a very accurate representation of the real life capabilities. The m2a3 on the other hand has both drivers thermal sights and a citv for the commander

For Russian BMP-3, only gunner if anything.

ME exports depending on country have no thermals, gunner thermals or both.
