Having given in to my long desire to get this game, I've fallen at the first hurdle. Clean Win 7 32 bit and Brand new BF2 physical copy. I'm following the on site instructions to update to 1.41 and then 1.5, but It won't even update 1.4. Constant "patching failed" error dialogue box every time I try. But it then reports "patch successful" and updates the games README but not the actual game it would seem...

P.S. The game is not registered online, and despite being new it denies me when I try.

P.P.S I have 7 gigs left in my C drive and that should be enough for the first update at least.

Also I was told that PR installer has an auto-updater for BF2 however this was not apparent.

I would really appreciate any support that's forth coming, this seems to be a fairly common problem, but the resolution is not apparent in any case that I've seen.

If you have a legit key, you can try putting your key into the Origin client and redeem BF2 from it, which is auto-updated to the latest version.

Where on the client do I do this? I've downloaded the platform and searched for BF2 but it's not there.

EA support granted me the game on origin, Advisor Disuke, you magnificent *******.
