BF2 Editor for 1.3

Hello! First of all, yes, I did read through the new tutorial Mineral made after 1.3 came out:

https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f189-m ... ost2074522

But because the thread is closed, and I had some questions, I wanted to make a new thread.

Currently I am working with the PR:WW2 mod, and I'm unsure how to get everything working again. Without thinking, I had uninstalled v1.2 from the EA/bf2/etc. folder. When I try to launch our minimod, I get errors since 1.2 is not installed. I have tried placing the new pr folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Project Reality\Project Reality BF2\mods\pr into the original mods from EA folder, however for obvious reasons I'm still having issues since it probably doesn't have everything where it was previously.

So, assuming the following:

->I have BF2, editor, etc. where they were before 1.3 (uninstalled 1.2), PRWW2 mod also in this area.<-

How would I go about getting the editor working? Specifically, where do I reinstall the editor, where do I have the PRWW2 mod folder, etc.

I wouldn't normally rush things but I am actually doing a school project based on systems analysis on optimizing 3D models due later this week, and I'm using one of our maps as a base for exporting my models to, so if anyone has any helpful insight, I would really appreciate it as soon as possible!

If I can clarify anything please let me know, I'll be checking the forum as often as possible between working on homework and other things

One issue I am having is where to open the editor from. Installing to the new Project Reality folder gives me a direct x error which can't be solved by going into Windows XP compatibility mode. That's where I'm not sure about, if we are supposed to be using the editor from the BF2 folder and moving our mod to the Project Reality Folder in the /mods section before launching, or what.

EDIT: Alright, so I got the repo to launch, but when loading maps I tend to crash on loading textures (88%), when previously this did not happen (thus I know it's not a map thing). Not sure if this is because we used a certain texture that was removed from 1.2 or what, or if this something completely different.

Cheers!

bf2 editor needs to get installed to the Battlefield 2 direction. Not all neccesary files for the editor are included in the standalone.

in v1.3 alot of unused textures and objects got removed from the installation you should really try it in windowed mode and check the error message.

I'll update the thread some point to display both those with and without bf2 options. Good point rf!

Thanks both of you, I'll try windowed mode to get what's going on.

Like I said, I've got a project due Tuesday, so I'll be looking heavily into this tomorrow and post back findings, hopefully it's just something that I can fix like a missing texture.

Edit: That's the cause, thank you, I went through in windowed, and replaced missing textures with temporary textures to cease crashes when loading textures.

Quick Note: Having a terrain shader issue that causes a crash when ran from the Project Reality Folder, but not from the EA/BF2 folder. However, even then, the map loads but terrain is invisible. Looking more into this tomorrow.

I actually wondered about that.Even tho I didnt deleted 1.2 and just installed 1.3 in another folder.

Is there a list of textures\stacics we dont need to use because they were removed? Because that would be really great to know.

We had 3 (a concrete wall and 2 tnt textures) that I had to copy and paste to get it from crashing. However, I can still only run our mod in windowed mode by copying it (after being built in the EA folder) and pasting it into the Project Reality folder.

After that I can only run in windowed mode, as we're missing a shader which crashes the normal game. Running in windowed mode runs it anyways, but typically the ground doesn't render.

The way I checked for what textures were missing was by running the game in windowed mode over and over (thankfully only 3 times) to get the error of what was missing. I then just copied a random texture, renamed it and placed it where we were missing one, and tried again.

Obviously this is a temporary solution as I have a school project I am using the editor for, so eventually when someone get's the correct texture files we plan to just place those in the correct spot in our mod, rather than having everything missing look like a random concrete wall, hehe.

I'll post more shortly, but it's been a wee bit of a pain. Things are working out, but you have to put a little extra work to get things going right.
