Can't use remotely detonated IEDs due to missing phone

Hey guys,

first of all thanks a lot for all the great work on 1.3. It's a fantastic release.

I did run into a few bugs, though. This one applies to the sapper kit.

Bug description

After placing a remotely-detonated IED with the sapper (e.g. mine or artillerly IED) the phone remote does not appear in the player's hand.

I have run into this bug on several servers across different maps, kits, and factions.

Steps to reproduce

- As an insurgent/militia select the standard sapper/combat engineer kit
- Plant the mine IED or mortar round IED

What happens

- after planting the IED you hear a mobile phone beep, but the phone is not placed in your hands; instead the weapon slot becomes inactive and you are switched to the next one in line
- having placed the IED, the weapon slot where the phone should be can't be accessed anymore

What should happen

- a remote phone trigger should appear in your hands after placing the IED
- you should be able to switch back and forth to/from other weapon slots


Tested on:

- Fallujah Std Ins
- Iron Ridge AAS

Additional information

- PR installation: 1.3
- Graphics settings: all low aside from textures and texture filtering (both high)
- Audio: high, hardware-based, EAX-enabled

Are you sure that you dont press the trigger accidentally right after you drop the IED? Like while the IED leaves your hands and falls to the ground? If you do so, the trigger attempts to detonate and disappears but the bomb doesnt go off. You need to wait some seconds before you can detonate the charge.

That must be the case. I tested every insurgent remotely detonated bombs and I was always able to detonate it. Then I placed a mortar ied and spammed RMB -> the bomb was left on the ground and the phone disappeared.

Claymores (ap-mine kit) etc. have this same thing. When you take out the remote control, you have to listen for slight "click" sound. That indicates you can detonate.

Well, I feel stupid now. Turns out I was planting IEDs wrong this whole time. Instead of clicking once I was holding down the LMB until it was placed, which of course resulted in the phone trigger getting used up before the animation had even a chance to complete.

Thanks for getting me on the right track, guys. I guess this thread can be closed now.

Good this got solved. Best bugs are those that dont require any fixing :)
