disconnect from server after one minute of playing

I launch the game as administrator. I join a server. I join a squad. I enter the game and after some stuttering frames for about a minute I am disconnected from the server.

There are like 10 full servers right now. I cannot believe how many people are on right now and I cannot play!

I love PR, and thanks for the help. :p

I updated Punkbuster and went to a low pop server to test it. I was able to stay connected but the jaggies and stutters were prohibitive.

I was running a solid 98 frames per second and yet had little control over aiming. I experienced frame jumps where I would be looking in a completely different direction after panning, etc.

It is unplayable this way. I had the surprise on a guy and fired three times with a shot gun at 10 meters. He turned around, moved and shot me. I ain't great, but I ain't that bad.

I restarted my computer and tried playing again. I then had massive pings on every server. I am in Italy and the Euro servers were in the 500+ range. I did a speedtest on my ADSL and found that my ping was very high: 330 ms.

<a href="http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/4409673820"><img src="http://www.speedtest.net/result/4409673820.png" /></a>

It may be an ADSL service issue. Hopefully tomorrow it is resolved. If not, I will keep posting on the forums.

I had much the same as your described until I changed ISP, worth checking router/firewall, none downloading or streaming etc etc on your connection.

Try at 0400Am when interwebz is quiet?

Your antivirus or firewall , or router or router's internal firewall, are doing packet inspection on PRlauncher.exe and/or PRBF2.exe

Whitelist PRLauncher.exe and PRBF2.exe in your antivirus and firewall to test.

Mine was actually an ISP issue. My ping was huge and that was causing the disconnects. I just logged into and played with no problems.

THANK YOU, LITORALIS. For your input but it was all an issue on my end.

I have the same problem with constant disconnects after 1-5 minutes since I changed my ISP. I tried every possible solution that I could find for the past three years. The game works pretty good when I use my cellphone's 4G network so the problem should be connected to the ISP. I have a cable modem Arris CM820B and a Netgear WNR3500L router. All the firewalls and filters on the router are disabled and there are no configurable settings for the modem. What do I do to make the game work? Everything else works good so I guess its a BF2 problem. Probably my ISP is doing the packet inspection.

I remember we've already discussed this a year ago and you mentions something about comcast and games like swtor, wow, lol but all these games work well for me and I dont live in America :)

I Have the same issue you had or have. i just installed again after a reinstall of windows and saw that PR is now a standalone so i gave it a try and downloaded. i played around 3 rounds. Then got disconnected and then i tried to rejoin and now its disconnecting me very often like 2mins of just being ingame. i've had this issue for along time before the standalone download. i have allowed the program to work on antivirus and firewall. i have a netgear router and arris modem and i have port forwarded BF2. It might be my ISP. But what can i do about that. i cant just call them up and be like hey BF2 doesn't work cause of your service. They would have no clue lol.

Hi Bascunan,

we have literally almost identical PCs and home networks, and same ISP, I have no idea how to further help you as we went through that extensive troubleshooting ... last year, (was it that long ago already?)

You could call the ISP and ask them to do a jitter test and line test,
you could remove the router and connect your PC direct to the modem. (eliminate router and cat5 cable between router and modem as possible culprit)
you could take your PC to a friend's house and test it there. (if outside your ISP node, i.e. more than a block or two from your house, it could eliminate your Node being the problem)
you could, ask a neighbor for a WiFI password and try to run PR while connected to that WiFi. (would eliminate what is called last mile, which is from the utility pole to your dwelling, as a possible culprit)
You could borrow a laptop and try it connected to your router, to eliminate your Desktop as the culprit.

These are all just broad brush strokes of troubleshooting ideas.
Your situation stumped me enough i recognize your screenname instantly btw.

I Appreciate you helping and your the one that has been trying to help and you seem clueless and i got some rare situation going on here. It must be my ISP. But i also been in 3 apartments in the past 3-4 years and have the same ISP since Version FIOS doesn't work out in some towns in long island new york. But even with moving 3 times in that time still nothing. They keep on giving me ARRIS Modem. And the connection is always nice like 20 download and 15 upload and used to have 40 download and 40 upload. And that didnt do much for PR. I HONESTLY GIVE UP LOL. Ohh idk if this will help but this time where i'm at i'm using a linksys usb network adapater. i dont think that matters since i still got the same issue when i didnt have the network adapter. But here is my jitter test.

Is this a bad jitter. And if it is i'm so gonna go on livechat with my isp and fix it?
Image
i think thats bad correct? having a 7ms jitter. Has to be 1ms or zero?

7ms is bad for online gaming, I just tested several times to same Brooklyn server and have 1ms to 3ms,

7ms is bad for gaming, that's back to jitter levels of the first residential DSL lines on the island in the late 1990's.

"He goes does your phone work when this happens to your internet. i'm like wtf noo? ughhh"

Actually that's a good thing if you lose Optimum Vocie same time you lose optimum internet. It's impedance, most Cablevision field techs can locate the physical equipment that is the cause in 20 minutes or so. They'll walk around with what looks like a Star Trek tricorder that finds leaking cable signals, then replace the cable or splitter that is the root cause.
You will need a good quality splitter rated at 5 to 1000Mz, with an input impedance of 75 ohms. It should have two splits of no more than - 3.5dB each (insertion loss).
What coax splitter should I use? Optimum Online FAQ | DSLReports, ISP Information

Twelve hours ago I was playing PR without any problems and now I have the same issue... this isn't the first time I got this issue, but unfortunately I have it again.

When I enter the game I get killed and disconnected. (You have been disconnected from the server.)

Checked my firewall/antivirus and it already allows PR and all the stuff around it. My internet speed is also pretty good. (121.75 mbps average)

So after many years of playing it suddenly stopped working, any suggestions?
