nvidia gtx 650 ti behaving oddly

Hey all

just threw a quick new build together as my prev comp was starting to suffer from multiple organ failure

It's all working really nicely apart from my GTX 650 Ti

Issue -
Fan is not spinning apart from about 2 seconds when machine is booted up

The card is receiving power, it's blue LED is on, my monitor is getting telemetry from it, games will start but ofc the temp rises too quick, on MSI afterburner it looks like the computer is telling the card to increase it's fan speed but the fan itself isn't moving

it's got it's 6pin power supply...it was working fine in the old machine, it's drivers are up to date...

bit lost for ideas, it's a cheap card that I was planning to replace in 2 months or so but it's just a bit odd

First check to see if the fan is physically obstructed, duh

second, reseat the card.

then: d/l and install Open Hardware Monitor - Core temp, fan speed and voltages in a free software gadget
run it, see if the GPU fan shows up in the system monitoring or not.
somewhat better at reading raw fan data than afterburner.

Feeling intrepid? Flash the stock or newest stable stock BIOS onto the card using NVFlash:
Download NVFlash 5.206.0.1 for Windows | techPowerUp

no obstructions to note, it will spin for 2 seconds when I press the power button then it stops :(

If it was mine I would try another fan. Is the original replaceable, the wires can be cut and rejoined.

I have a jetwash where the electric motors bearing are too worn so it runs for about 5 mins until hot then stops. Try to turn the fan when cold and hot after stopping to see if it has more resistance when hot.
