Basrah fixed bunker at vehicle checkpoint

I had a really strange experience with the new "fixed firebase" at the VCP on Basrah. I was running an insurgent squad and we overran the VCP and built a hideout inside the walls. But the Brits just kept spawning in on the fixed firebase (which looks like an old-school FOB with a roof, which was also featured in the Normandy alpha). We got about 20 kills spawncamping while waiting for a sapper to get to our position. When he finally arrived and set off an IED inside the firebase, the explosion occurred outside the walls of the VCP as though the IED had been teleported some 30 meters to the north. And they just kept on spawning in and getting slaughtered...

I was wondering what the rationale was for adding this fixed firebase. If it's meant to keep the insurgents from completely taking over the VCP, I think it's just going to encourage spawn-killing. It makes some really weird gameplay that seems inconsistent with PR. It's as though the insurgents are rewarded with being able to spawn-kill numerous helpless Brits if they overrun the VCP. I just hope the VCP doesn't become off-limits to the insurgents in the future because fighting over it is half the fun of this map.

We're working on it so it can be overrun when insurgents are near like current fobs.

For the patcher we have reverted it back to the old fixed firebase. The idea was to make it a more protective spawn and to also make it clearer that it wasn't a normal FO that you could deploy assets off but ye, its pretty bugged right now :p

Yeah, that teleporting IED was pretty crazy. I wish it had teleported into a more interesting location, though, like British main :D

No idea what the teleported IED is about, you sure your sapper didn't plant it there by mistake? :p

I saw him plant a mine IED inside the FOB. We moved about 20 meters away and he counted to three. The moment he triggered it, I heard an explosion and saw a dust cloud about 10 meters outside of the VCP, not inside the walls. He said it seemed like it blew up outside and I agreed.

Oooh, that's what that was. Sorry guys.

Actually, the guy who was my sapper was playing from Iran. Don't they flog your *** if you drink in that country? BTW, one other guy was from Syria and they were talking in Arabic...felt like I was on a roleplaying server :shock: Only in PR.
