Kiowa Nerf

So with the recent flare update, making AA stronger. I was going to do dives to make the helicopter last longer. I don't quite understand the point of nerfing CAS into the ground.

Usually diving onto a quad like that would not even allow the quad to have angle on you, since quad can't look a complete 90 degree angle.

Used to be loads of fun being raped on a cache by a Kiowa on Kokan before you could even hear it. Too bad that is gone....

Its not god mode.

Its making it barely usable. One of the strong points of the Kiowa is being able to dive. You can counter it, if your know its possible to do. It doesn't make it god mode.

It's usable when you get some intel from ground units on where AA is or isn't.

It's unusable alone, yes. That's the point. CAS can and will only work if your team has (a) air superiority and (b) taken out enemy ground air defense. These high dive maneuvers were never any good in my book. There is nothing you can do against them really and they require only a minimal amount of teamwork, basically just one spotter on the ground. And in the case of a fixed quad gun like on Kokan actually not even that. In my opinion, the higher valued the asset is, the more dependent on good teamwork it should be. And CAS helicopters are around the most valuable asset you can have.

Oh no! The cheesy tactic of nose diving is now impossible, what will we do now??

Look at that picture not a single friendly on that area, its the perfect example of CAS job - spam missiles in a area with no friendlies to give support - and now that job is impossible to do! Game breaking bug!

All those times I (and others) fired AA against CAS just to simply see it "derping" around and missing its target were complete my (and others) fault and not the nose-diving/flare problem. The reason why CAS could go 70 - 0 on insurgent maps was because CAS pilots are skilled pilots and not because these game "issues" where we can spam missiles while flaring and nose diving and give not a single fuck.

Disclaimer: Yes this is a sarcastic post, its a welcome change and CAS tears are delicious

Are you seriously complaining about a nerf to the Kiowa? How out of touch do you have to be not to realize that the Kiowa was incredibly overpowered on maps like Kokan? Playing as an insurgent, those dive-attacks were incredibly frustrating; to the point where the game lost all its fun in some rounds. If one player is having the time of his life to the detriment of 50 others on the opposing team, then you know that something is wrong. To complain about a fix to an imbalance as serious as this takes some major cognitive dissonance.

So now with 1.3 you have to actually coordinate with other squads. Teamwork in PR, who would have thunk?!

Im not saying that it wasn't called for. Im saying that with the added threat of AA it was the only way that a Kiowa is viable. In 1.2 kiowa's were probably the most killed CAS chopper.

In a world where assets are only used when they are called in by inf. that works. But that is not how PR is played.

I think the new AAs and flight physics are the best they have ever been in PR, also Kiowas can still dive I don't know what happened to you here.

Well that's the world PR is.

If you hover around or fly randomly trying to get some solo kills and get shot down, it's completely your fault.

Btw, try landing in main sometime.

The kiowa blew up because it was upside down for a moment. They prevented flying upside down by having the chopper get damaged while doing so. You can still dive fine.

Indeed they are. Especially after all those hours of frustrating rounds where you would get spammed with missiles and bombs. Even AA emplacements were useless. I didn't even bother building them as an SL because they were an utter waste of shoveling. Now the AA is feared as it should be.

I've seen 70-0 CAS in Saaremaa after 1.3 :grin: so if you know how to CAS, 1.3 doesn't give you a headache
