Honestly I would be happier seeing no jets, the maps are not even big enough for helicopters. If it comes down to it, less is more - PRM should focus on CAS jets only and forget the rest unless a way is found to make maps that are at least 10km wide. A-10, Harrier, Su25 are all that are needed

It does seem the equivalent of having a tank on a football pitch.

i hate the A-10 in the bf games. its allways the super duper rape every thing you see plane. aslong as thats on the map nothing else is needed.
and i total agree with IAJTHOMAS statement. thats why id rather see ground support mission called in by the commander as a alturnative to arty strikes.

Air Superiority - Eurofighter and the F3 are the RAFs current choice but since the F3 is to eventually replace the F3 in service I'm gonna go with the Typhoon.
Ground Attack - GR4, gets the thumbs up from me.
Multi-Role - Jaguar is out of service as of October this year.
Naval Fighters - F35 could be used in place of Harrier as it's being phased in as Harrier is phased out.

We will be focussing on attack jets and figher jets. There likely will not be many of the uber fighter bomber jets ever to return to PR.
Eventually...
The USMC and GB will have carrier borne superiority and attack jets.
GB Carrier CAS : Harrier
GB Carrier Sup: F35 *
US Carrier CAS: Harrier
US Carrier Sup: F18 *
All factions will have land based attack jets:
GB: Harrier
US: A10 *
PLA: Q5 *
MEC: Su25 *
And land based air superiority fighters:
GB: Eurofighter *
US: F16 *
PLA: J10 *
MEC: Mig 29 *
The ones marked with a * are in game already.
ALL of the jets need an "audit" and we'll be doing the Attack Jets first, hopefully for v0.6.
We'll also be hopefully creating maps that are much larger than current in addition to looking at more realistic scenario where there are not 2 airfields 1800m from each other heh.
There are no current plans to have an Insurgency aircraft. Perhaps a militia faction might get a hold of an old jet some day, but would be very scenario specific if we ever did that.
Skeletor is correct in that .. from a realism perspective .. BF2 style jets just don't fit that well. But they are fun so attack jets and a fighter to keep them safe is the extent of the current roadmap around jets in PR.

Insurgents shouldn't get any sort of armoured vehicles. Except maybe some trucks and cars with Hillbilly Armour, other than that it should be about total guerilla warefare for them, uber cheap tactics and everything.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hillbilly_armour
The Militia should get maybe some old tanks (like how you have the T-62 and BDRM). I think Air vehicles for even the militia is pushing it alot. Perhaps a recon
stolen news helicopter or something along those lines.

id rather not see them with armor, for the sake of them having it. id rather them just have light vechiles and the skill of the mapers and gamers to adapt around that.
whats the point or having more armies if its just more of the same?

@ EGGMAN. Any chance of the harrier being equipted with ground attack weapons only e.g Rocket pods (those super powerfull non guided ones) and some laser guided or what ever bombs (air burst would be good - used in Afgan i hear)
Why, well the HArrier is old and hardly really any good in air to air combat compared to dedicated fighter AND dont think it carries radar (know ships radar would back it up but on maps with out ships, more fun to have rocket pods that IR seekign missile) any more, Sea Harrier did but the ones in Afgan dont - pretty sure. Really mean, woudl not be any fun, rather do air to air in a TOrnado.
Why i say above, becuase the models of the harrier i have seen appear to carrier bombs and air to air missiles, a dedicated ground attack aircraft called in by friendly troops would be much more fun. And with aircrafts STOVL capability it would be idealy suited for many maps where the option of a full length run way is impossible.
FUn, just to be sure i did not use it enough! heheeeee

The harrier GR9 can carry an awesom payload.
Armament
Up to sixteen general-purpose bombs, four Maverick anti-tank missiles, Paveway 2 and 3 laser-guided bombs and CRV-7 rocket pods. Future attack weapons will include Brimstone anti-armour missiles and Storm Shadow cruise missiles. For self-defence, two AIM-9L Sidewinders or Advanced Short-Range Air-to-Air missiles (ASRAAM) can be carried. The Joint Reconnaissance Pod, when fitted, is mounted under the centre fuselage.
And yes we are getting JSFs in the near future

OK, but how much can it carry at one time the GR9. All i care about are CRV-7 rocket pods!!!!

i dont know about the rocket pods, yes a great barrage weapon against infantry ill admit but thats it
apart from a map like Muttarh, where else do u see massive amounts of infantry close together on an open map able to take aircraft
but personally i would like them, but they would need to be super-powerful or have a very high damage radius

I'd rather have cluster bombs *shrug*

ROCKET pods AND airbust bombs = the ultermate simple ground attack weapons.
Rockets (CRV-7) are absolutely lethal against armoured targets and well airbust bombs against infantry hiding over a wide area is well just crual!
None of this fancy Brimestone - good in high tech warefare but in Afgan, we wnat crude and brutal! *smiles*

It's
naval, dude. The Sea Harrier is too large to achieve air superiority in anyone's bellybutton.
Or rather, was, since it has been retired from service. The two Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm squadrons that flew it are or already have transitioned to the Harrier GR7/GR9 used by the RAF.

Why is the F35 being implimented when its not even in US hands yet? Same with the j10, Guys i want to stick to thread topic not on Payloads becuase i think this Should be sorted. And for those who say no planes the Game itself Bf2 Was Designed as a Total Warfare Game with all elements (Except Navy Cause EA were a tad lazy) so what you gonna do when your pinned down and being fired at from that one building out of reach huh?

cuz PR is set sometime after 2010 and we can take liberties as a result. The J10 and F35 are plausible choices that are readily available to us.
Jets are pretty rare in PR and once we fill out the roadmap as described we likely will not spend much effort modelling new jets for the diminishing returns that effort would add to game play dynamics.
Not saying that will always be the case, but for the next few months that's how it's gonna be.

Jets will get some love eventually. Eggman and the devs are a team surprises, like when I found out they had the F-16 and A-10 in game when I was testing .4
And maybe then some servers will actually run maps that support jets, havent shot anyone down in public servers for a while.
