Help recovering the PR download?

Hey guys, I'm trying to get the 1.3 update downloaded, but I have crappy internet and downloaded it from Google Chrome. ~6 hours into the download, the browser crashed, killing the download at 5.5GB/6.7 GB. I REALLY dont want to have to download for another 6 hours to get back to where I was, and I heard about multiple ways you can use the .crdownload file chrome spits out for aborted downloads to resume where you left off. After trying for 2 hours to restart it through Wget and Mozilla, I'm ready to pull my hair out.
The Mozilla method of changing the .crdownload to a .part shown here (Resume A Failed Chrome Download From Where It Left Off [Tutorial]) seems really plausible, but everytime I do what it says and substitute the files, the download just starts off at the start instead of where I left off.
I'm at my wits end because I'm introducing someone to PR and theyre going to be on soon. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
EDIT: Heres what Ive been doing:
1: copying download link from chrome and putting it into mozilla
2: starting download, then pausing it.
3: taking the prbf2 1.3 whatever.iso.crdownload and changing it to a .part instead of a crdownload.
4: right clicking on the download bar and going to the "open containing file" option to find where its downloading it.
5: then I delete what its been downloading and replace it with the .part
6. When i resume the download, it starts from 0KB, completely ignoring the .part I inserted.
