Project Reality Myths

While playing Project Reality I have come across a few claims that really surprised me when I heard them. Some of them I have tested by myself, but others I haven't been able to come up with an answer for. The first claim that I heard is that dying as commander costs your team 25 tickets. I have also heard different variations where 'commander' is replaced with a particular kit such as sniper or HAT. The other claim that I haven't been able to verify is that Insurgent commanders are able to die as martyrs. The few times that I have died playing as a civilian commander I have always been 'helping the insurgency'. I would love to know the answers to these questions, and if anyone else can think of some other myths maybe it could get an interesting discussion going.

"Being on foot rather than in a vehicle makes the flags cap faster." Not sure if this is true.

Also, I think it was clarified in another thread a few months back that commanders are worth just as much as regular insurgents.

I'm 90% sure that in other battlefieldgames (1942, vietnam) if people are together in a vehicle it only counts as one person on cap, I dunno if it translate to PR though

IIRC I wasn't like that in the beginning of BF2, it changed after an early patch because people were going from flag to flag and capping them really fast in a fully manned blackhawk or APC. I dunno how it affects PR though.


Edit : got it !
-> patch 1.03 gameplay changes : -Only 1 player in a vehicle will get credit for or speed up capturing a flag at a CP. The other passengers must exit the vehicle to increase the speed of capture or receive capture score.

As for the commander ticket loss. That belongs in the book of tall tales between Bigfoot and the Loch Ness monster. It's been discussed before and probably tested a few times. It'll be on the forums somewhere.

As for the INS commander, that should be easy enough to test, Swampfox or one of the guys that does a lot of civvi stuff might be able to help.

A civilian commander can die as martyr just like any other civilian. It does not matter whether you are a squad member, leader, commander or unassigned.
The capping in vehicle thing i will have to check, but most of the time it does not matter. To cap a neutral flag w/o opposition at maximum cap speed you only need 2 players in radius.

I've heard this so many times: commander death is 10-50-100 (lol) tickets worth. I'm not sure but there is or was a MG3 with holo sights kit with sidearm in Silent Eagle a while back? I remember seeing a SS of that kit :D . Also 2 or 3 pick-up sniper kits in Xianghsan for French team. I've personally found one kit :D

When an arrested Civilian/insurgent gets revived it still does count as 10 arrest intelpoints for blufor?
Was wondering if this is true or that the blufor loses its intel when the player gets revived

I think the root of this problem was in BF2 where blackhawk death squads roamed maps, instantly capping flags.

Thanks, that's a good thing to know next time I play insurgency. As for testing ticket loss would it be accurate to test on a local server, I might just do it today?

EDIT: After testing on a local server I could not find any difference in ticket loss between a commander and a rifleman. Both caused my team to lose one ticket for becoming WOUNDED and one ticket for DEAD. You can destroy a MTLB (any variant) with small arms fire and grenades.

I'm sure this is true since those things are weak as hell armor wise.

I thought it was a little like "cheating," but really its more like something that is "too much" of an advantage over the other team.

If this happened every time Mutrrah would be the worst map to play.
I don't think it's "super advantageous" because you are outpacing your supplies and ability to hold flags.

Exactly, capping neutral flags at round start is only worthwhile if they can be supplied, re-enforced and held. Otherwise it's just -30 tickets when the enemy team gets deployed.
