Let's talk about mg seat in tanks

I've never seen people using this seat, and I don't know why.
On blufor it's a .50 cal it can be a serious threat for infantry and some apcs, even for helicopters,it adds a significant firepower. Also this mg seat can be use by a crewchief,so the driver and the gunner can focus on their task, when the crewchief talk with the SL or the SL talk to others SL. It adds a 3rd pair of eyes, improving the tank awarness. But on maps like Khamisiyah or Kashan you will need to create 2 tanks to use this tactic. What do you think about it?

The third spot is needed for the driver to turn off engine in battle. So no experienced tank crew lets people get in that cause it is infact constantly used for quick sound checks.

CONS
- Quick-Stops, w/o the 3rd gunner the driver can at any time switch seats and halth the tank
- Engines Off - w/o the 3rd funner the driver can use this seat while the engines are off, instead of jumping out of the tank and be exposed (or die just because glitches)
- Camera view, more times than not, the 3rd gunner is in the way of the Commander Camera, making it anoying (I want to remove the .50 just because of this)
- False confidence, everytime I trust my .50 gunner to watch our back I got hated or C4 from behind
- Free kill, its just a free kill once the tank gets near a city or it fights another tank
- Anoying, there's a high probability that the .50 gunner will shoot at random things givving aways our position.
- It doesn't actually spot anything, It just cant compete against a good driver using thermals.
PROS
- The guy can be used to scout corners and such, while the driver stays safe

I use it for anti-air purposes. Gunner can't aim high enough to shoot helicopters, driver can the 3rd seat .50 cal. If it doesn't kill, it will scare the air assets away (mainly helicopters)

I wish this wouldn't be a thing.
Its very gamey because in reality you would rarely cut your engines. You Gain almost nothing of it and you risk emptying your batteries if you do it too long.
Sadly the PR metagame encourages cutting engines and jumping in and out of vehicles.
I know its just an anecdote of me, but I once had a burning sand game where my .50 gunner (Walker) had more kills then the tank gunner so never underestimate what the .50 gunner can do.

Or don't overestimate your main gunner?
usually people think i have a problem against them when i say don't get on the 50 cal, but that is not the case. pretty much the same reasons as everyone else has posted.. i use it to keep the engines off when stationary for a while just to listen to my surroundings. 50cal gunner also ruins the camera view for drivers in some tanks, which diminishes the driver's ability to spot targets. Probably nice to have a 50cal gunner in tight, confined maps (sbeneh?) vs large open sandbox maps like kashan/khami.. although personally I'd prefer to run without one on either scenario.

Either one was hacking or the other was AFK.

3rd seat gunners are bad, they don't add anything. I can agree with possibly removing it due to the huge issue with having it block the drivers line of sight constantly. Not to mention a few tanks (used to?) rock a bit when you shot the weapon on top, this lead to many missed shots because the .50 cal guy thought it was better to spew bullets at a single rifleman off to our left.
Not to mention it's boring as all hell! You will have a much better time grabbing a proper rifle and going on foot, even if you wanted to support your tank crew you're better off scouting on foot. If you really want to man an asset and the tank is full try taking an APC or something lighter?

It's also not particularly realistic for it be manned in combat, whoever's seat it is above (whether that be the loader, commander or gunner) chances are they are much too busy doing their main job than having time to ride shotgun with an mg.
P.S. I may or may not have already beaten this horse to death.

The tracers rounds of the 50.cal can be useful for the cas enemy crew, they can know if the tank they are looking at is friendly or not and having a feedback after the strike(s) , i dont know any players who have ever shot down cas with it.

I have shot down the PLA CAS attack copter, thogh the pilot was dumb AF, but still shot it with T90 50cal, map was Black Gold.

I think the MG should just be removed, and that seat should be given a commander camera like the driver, and of course the player would be positioned inside the turret.

I like this idea, maybe something like radio operator, so you have a commander camera, plus the possibility to call mortars, area attack like if you were an officer. Also, it can be op but radio operator can connect to UAV or something like this
