I suggest looking at the BF2 revive program to host BF2 servers now that EA/Dice/Gamespy have shut down the official account servers.

I'm not sure how it is for vBF2 since GameSpy support is now gone, but you could host your own listen or dedicated server off of your home computer.

If you're really serious though you could rent a server box, that will cost you a setup fee and up to ~70 euros a month. If it's windows you'll be able to control it remotely, its own desktop etc. Once you have all that you just need to install the vBF2 server itself and open whatever ports it needs.

Wow i really thought this would be something like plug n play.
After making some extra research i figure out that ranked server is out of the subject as well as dedicated server, since the cost is ridiculous high (for my pocket).
What about hosts like game servers or vilayer?

Create Local/coop seems like your option😁

What do you mean vilayer? These guys?

I can tell you right now, don't get anything of theirs. Those prices are ridiculously outrageous, more than twice as much as some of those builds cost to rent. You probably won't find many service providers that offer game servers with slot based pricing for BF2 anymore, and if you do they're usually not very good and your control is limited.

I have set up and configured ~4 servers for various games in the past 2 months alone and I can say that it is not as simple as just turning it on. Even to get it to work on your personal computer you need to make your IP static and then forward some ports, which isn't a problem if you know what you're doing.

What do you think of these guys? I used them for game server hosting for FIFA with some buddies and can't complain. Dunno how they'd cope with a larger and more complex game though.

Thoughts?

I was looking into getting them almost a year ago, but decided not to because the money is in Euros and has to be paid in British Pounds, I also heard from a guy using them for ~10 years and he said the support was terrible. Also I think you may need to register as a resident of the UK.
I've heard nothing but good things about them. I don't like the bandwidth conenction/the prices of the optional features though, but 50 euros a month is a good price for what you're paying for.

NGZ is ok, support is a little lacking though. I remember they have been DDoS'd a few times though so that can be an inconvenience.

Forget which one of these I have, paying about 66 euros monthly. Absolute favorite, I don't have a reason not to like it.
